The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay teaser, the one that was pitched as a gameplay look but ended up being just cut from cinematic moments in-game, was a good trailer. It showed the game’s world, new melee animations, raiding, long ship combat and more of Valhalla’s core features. Had it not been for the PR plunder that preceded it, the trailer would have likely been more positively received. But, can it be recreated in a different game? Well, not quite. Reddit user Davidplaysgames took a crack at it by focusing on the Eivor closeups, replacing them with Arthur. They even managed to recreate some of the action, though only the moments that featured Eivor on his own. It was also the right call to use hatchets and the viking helmet, you know, to sell the illusion. The Red Dead Redemption 2 version obviously lacks much of the scale in Valhalla, but the end result is still solid given all the limitations.

Ubisoft, of course, blew the doors wide open on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla overnight. We not only got a proper look at gameplay, many in the press shared their thoughts on the hands-on demo, including our very own Kirk McKeand, who spotted a lot of Witcher DNA in the game.
