How to get dyes in The Witcher 3
Dyes are purchased, found, or crafted. If you want to have several dye options, your best option is to visit the Dye Merchant in Beauclair. This merchant is found along the harbor east of the Harbor Gate. When you discover colorful splotches on the ground, you know you’re close. Look for an area with several colorful dye pools, and you’ll find the Dye Merchant standing nearby. Dyes can cost around a thousand Crowns each, give or take, so make sure to bring a decent chunk of money with you. If you’re not wanting to fork over the cash, dyes can also be looted throughout Toussaint. Several dyes can be found during various side quests, so be sure to loot each location you visit thoroughly to grab any dyes that may be hidden nearby. As long as you have the Blood and Wine DLC installed, dyes can be obtained as loot drops from enemies as well. You can also craft dyes, provided you have the dye diagram and appropriate components.
How to dye armor in The Witcher 3
Once you have some dye in your inventory, you can use the preview function to see how the dye color will look on a particular piece of Witcher gear before making any changes. Select a dye color along with an armor piece you’d like to dye. If you like how it looks in the preview, confirm the selection to dye the piece of armor. Mix and match armor pieces of different dye colors to make a unique look. If you make a mistake or want to undo your dye job, you will need to purchase or find a Dye Remover. Apply the Dye Remover in the same way as the dyes to revert your armor back to its original color.
