Sony has announced it’s a hosting month-long celebration event at its Sony Square NYC store called Experience PlayStation. It kicks off today and will remain until February 16. Although the event’s page explicitly states it’s focused on PS4 and PS VR titles, the timing has fans wondering if it’ll be capped off with a PS5 reveal. PS4, as you may recall, was first unveiled at a February 20, 2013 event in New York Sony dubbed PlayStation Meeting. This is partially why some are suggesting Sony may be officially revealing PS5 at this year’s event.

The last time Sony showed off a new console in New York was the PS4 Pro event, which took place at the - now closed - PlayStation Theater in September, 2016. The 2013 PlayStation Meeting, on the other hand, was held at the Manhattan Center. Given the company’s increasing reliance on its own events, to the detriment of major shows like E3, there’s a good chance it will also choose to show its next-gen console to the world at its own NYC store.
