While Capcom is getting ready to release Resident Evil 3, the developer has reportedly been working on the next mainline Resident Evil game behind-the-scenes. According to noted leaker Dusk Golem, the project has been in development for over three years, and is planned for release in 2021. In fact, Capcom is seemingly gearing up to officially announce it soon. As for what it is, Dusk Golem says it’ll be “by far the biggest departure the series has ever taken,” to the point that they anticipate the shift to upset existing fans. Golem likens the game’s development to that of the original Resident Evil 3, but doesn’t elaborate on what that means.
