For being a Mario game, there’s been remarkably little time between the surprise reveal of Paper Mario: The Origami King, and its release this Friday on Switch. Paper Mario: The Origami King is, much like its predecessors, a comedic adventure set in a world made out of paper and cardboard. Olly is the eponymous king, who is on a quest to fold the Origami Kingdom. The Origami King’s combat mixes puzzles with turn-based tactics, but doesn’t bring back too many of the RPG mechanics fans of the older Paper Mario games are familiar with. You won’t be earning XP or levelling up Mario over the course of the game, for instance.
