While the HouseCast shows off new Retruanl gameplay, one of the largest takeaways from the cast is how it makes use of DualSense’s adaptive triggers. In the game, using the L2 button, if you pull it halfway down, it will aim the sights. But pulling it all the way will make the weapon go into an alt-fire mode. As with other PS5 games, the game also takes advantage of 3D audio and haptic feedback. The cast is around nine and a half minutes long, so grab a cup of tea, sit down, and give it a watch. In the third-person, rouge-like shooter, the procedural world you will be exploring is hostile to human life and changes every time you die. Here’s the synopsis in case you aren’t familiar with the upcoming game: After crash-landing on this shape-shifting world, Selene must search through the barren landscape of an ancient civilization for her escape. Isolated and alone, she finds herself fighting tooth and nail for survival. Again and again, she’s defeated – forced to restart her journey every time she dies. Through relentless roguelike gameplay, you’ll discover that just as the planet changes with every cycle, so do the items at your disposal. Every loop offers new combinations, forcing you to push your boundaries and approach combat with a different strategy each time. You will need to manage equipment and resources carefully, because every time you die, you restart from the beginning. But on the plus side, you can scavenge alien tech for upgrades to enhance your abilities in future cycles. Returnal was announced back in June and will be available on March 19 only on PS5.
