Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t exactly had the smoothest launch: it’s been given a warning on Xbox and removed from the PlayStation store. But we’ve also seen some good news about the game on some platforms: after messing about with settings, we know it runs fairly well on PC. And Stadia players seem to be enjoying the experience, too. But as the video above demonstrates, it turns out the Stadia version of the game has other uses, too. YouTuber Nintendrew has published a video that shows the controversial RPG playing seemingly without error on Nintendo’s hybrid handheld/home console. As per the video, the game can even 1080p when the device is docked, and once it’s up and running you can play the game with both Joy-Cons and a Pro Controller. So, by all accounts, the game pretty much runs on Switch. Who knew! If you want to get CD Projekt Red’s troubled new release booted up on the Nintendo machine, though, you’re going to need to do some homework. Nintendrew has noted that the video he’s posted contains a hacked Switch that’s running Android, on which the Google Stadia has been installed. If you look at the performance of other streaming-based games on Switch, you can see that Cyberpunk 2077 feels very differently. Last year, CD Projekt Red noted that Cyberpunk 2077 is probably not going to end up on Switch, despite the success of The Witcher 3 on the platform. Apparently, CD Projekt staff are furious at bosses over Cyberpunk 2077 launch and the company’s stocks have suffered somewhat thanks to the continued launch issues with the game. Will the title running on a hacked Nintendo Switch make a difference to the company’s fortunes? Probably not. But at least it’s a nugget of good news in what’s otherwise been a bit of a rough patch for developers and players alike.
