At the Six Invitational over the weekend, Rainbow Six Siege developer Ubisoft talked a great deal about its plans for the game’s current year - Year 5 - and a little bit about Year 6. Year 5, as previously revealed, will bring six new operators to the game, down from eight as in previous years. The first two, coming in Season 1, were revealed on the same stream. Ubisoft justified this by saying that having fewer operators allows the development team to focus on gameplay improvements, such as reworking existing operators....

This Sackboy: A Big Aventure video gives you a bit of a background on the story, and shows off all sorts of platforming fun. Released today by Sumo Digital and Sony, you get an idea of some of the obstacles Sackboy will face, along with a look at four-player co-op. Sackboy: A Big Adventure is coming to PS4 and PS5 on November 12.

For a gameplay overview trailer, there isn’t much in the way of actual in-game gameplay, but it did dive into the various factions you’ll meet in the game. First up is Los Panteros, who’s run by certified beefcake Sergio. They’re all about smuggling, and “have no hesitations about getting up on your business,” making them one to watch out for. Then there’s the more tech oriented, club culture donned Idols, who don’t have any particular leader, only a faceless group known as The Collective, but do have a penchant for masks that Daft Punk would potentially approve of....

That’s right, Persona 5 Strikers is already $20 off at Best Buy. This title was released less than two months ago, so seeing both versions of the game for just $40 is pretty cool! As for how the game itself is, many people have enjoyed it, despite its more Dynasty Warriors gameplay style. Scorn is an H.R. Giger-inspired FPS where you adventure through organic structures and try to avoid horrible alien willies, or something. Here’s the trailer, captured on Xbox Series X - because it’s exclusive to Xbox Series X. “Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure currently in development by Ebb Software,” reads the trailer description. It’s coming to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service at launch.

Rare announced today its pirate game Sea of Thieves will be released on Steam June 3. Back in May, Sega announced that it is working on a new Sonic the Hedgehog game for release in 2022. There are no details – at all – about what this new title is going to be, and so far the only teaser we’ve got for the game features Sonic running… and nothing else other than an unexplained symbol flashing up during the trailer. In an interview with 4Gamer, (via Nintendo Enthusiast), Sonic Team lead Takashi Iizuka says the company wanted to get something out in public about the game, but admits the offering was scant....

The reason for the latest delay, according to Ubisoft, is the team needs extra time for polishing and balancing to give players the “best possible experience.” If you are a bit bummed and don’t wish to wait that long to play it, Ubisoft said an open beta is coming in the near future....

The latest cool creation is this, a new LittleBigPlanet game created entirely in Dreams. LittleBigPlanet, if you don’t already know, is another game from Dreams development studio Media Molecule. It spawned Sony’s “play, create, share” mantra, allowing players to go wild with a suite of creative tools....

The game – which was apparently inspired by the superhero films of the early 00s uch as Batman Begins, for some reason – was a failed reboot for the mascot. Hamstrung by appalling loading times, terrible camera system, a stupid story, nasty voice acting, myriad glitches, and baffling controls, the game has become infamous for just how bad it was. Sonic 06 was one of a couple of Sonic games delisted from digital stores over 10 years ago, in a vague attempt to rescue the icon’s reputation....

A series based on Disco Elysium is to be developed via a partnership between the game’s developer, ZA/UM, and production company dj2 Entertainment which produced the Sonic the Hedgehog film. According to Variety, the adaption is still in the early stages as there is no writer attached. A network or streaming service hasn’t been announced either as pitching will occur later this year. The game is rather popular and won three BAFTAs for Debut Game, Music, and Narrative....

It’s official - Sonic the Hedgehog will get its first Lego set in the near future. The fan-made idea for a Lego product was today revealed to have been picked to become a real set, yet another video game franchise making that leap via the Lego Ideas program.
