Epic Games Store users can download Alien: Isolation and Hand of Fate 2 for free this week. This is the second time Alien: Isolation has been made available for free from the store. It was most recently handed out four months ago as part of the store’s Christmas drops. In the game, you play as Ellen Ripley’s daughter who is investigating the Sevastopol after her mother never returned from the doomed space station....

Epic Games announced today that it’s getting into game publishing in a major way. Under the Epic Games Publishing label, the company promises a “developer-first” approach. Epic already inked deals with Alan Wake and Control developer Remedy, Inside makers Playdead, and The Last Guardian’s Gen Design. This new partnership will see Epic publish these studios’ games on multiple platforms. Developers will retain ownership of their intellectual property, as well as full creative control....

Andrew wrote: “We’re simplifying our brand architecture and shifting away from the Oculus brand for our hardware. Starting in early 2022, you’ll start to see the shift from Oculus Quest from Facebook to Meta Quest and Oculus App to Meta Quest App over time.” The Oculus brand is also being removed from the multiple social experiences produced by those working at the company. Fall guys: Ultimate Knockout has updated the game, and along with the big hammer, it adds a new-anti-cheating system to PC. Another PC-specific addition includes the ability to bind game actions to mouse buttons, and PS4 users will notice improved stability when creating parties. Other changes include dynamic variation of objects in certain rounds, improved stability when progressing from one round to another, bug fixes in levels, and the team lowered Min Player Counts for some levels to increase round variety....

Fall Guys is celebrating the launch of its third Season at the moment, but developer Mediatonic is eager to give players even more content. In a new holiday special advert (below), the developer announces via wholesome live-action skit that anyone that logs in between December 21 and December 25 can grab a Santa outfit that they can slap on their character in the game show-inspired game. The video is worth a watch; it’s pretty sweet and manages to encapsulate that strange and compelling tone that the team behind the game has managed to leverage so well....

The next season of Fall Guys content is due to land in the popular game show-themed battle royale title in the second week of December and ahead of its arrival, developer Mediatonic has given us some more info about the incoming season. The official Fall Guys Twitter account, which has quickly become infamous for its creative use of social media, sent 300 pieces of a teaser image out to various users on the social media platform....

Bethesda has revealed a number of free trials and discounts for Fallout 76. From October 20 to 26, the game will be available entirely free on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. What’s more, the often ridiculed Fallout 1st subscription service, is also available for non-members to preview. Fallout 1st costs $99 per year, and includes various perks such as private servers, unlimited storage, free in-game currency and more. The Fallout 76 client can be downloaded from Steam, Bethesda’s own launcher, as well as the PlayStation and Microsoft Stores....

Starting March 12, you will be able to dive into the Fallout 76 PTS to try Locked and Loaded, which is slated to arrive on April 27. For those of you who play Fallout 76 on PC through Bethesda.net, the developers will be looking for feedback, and bug reporting on new features, like S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts, C.A.M.P. One of the games being made available is Evil Dead: The Game for PS4 and PS5. Inspired by all three original Evil Dead films and the Ash vs Evil Dead television series, the cooperative and PvP multiplayer game features a team of four survivors trying to seal a breach between worlds. OlliOlliWorld is the third entry in the series, and will be available for PS4 and PS5. The skateboarding action-platformer has you taking on missions and challenges and features plenty of player freedom....

FIFA 21 was the most downloaded game on the PlayStation Store in both Europe and the US on PS5. The game also came in first in Europe on PS4, while over in the US, GTA 5 was tops for PS4. On PS5, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was the second most popular game in the US, while over in Europe, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla took the second slot. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales took third in both regions, followed by Madden NFL 21 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in fourth, in the US and Europe, respectively, followed by NBA 2K21 and Rainbow Six Siege in fifth....

Former Electronic Arts executive Peter Moore has said that FIFA’s Ultimate Team is “a long way” from gambling. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, the EA alum said that the loot boxes in this mode of the company’s popular Ultimate Team mode are more akin to football stickers than anything else. Moore does see why the business model has attracted a lot of criticism and scrutiny in recent years. “You’re always getting something,” he says....

Announced back in February, Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier is a multiplayer battle royale shooter that seems to be taking a mobile-first approach to development. The game will launch with a couple of new features that haven’t been announced previouly, including; controller support, a new training mode that’ll let you experiment with weapon combinations and materia setups, a revamped tutorial split into two parts, and a new job, Ninja (which joins other classic pre-exisitng Final Fantasy jobs like Monk, Sorcerer and Warrior)....

Announced just a few months ago, Fire Emblem Engage is out January 20, with a number of outlets getting their hands on it for the first time. Dutch Nintendo-focused YouTube channel N1-UP recently took a look at the game, and even uploaded the full opening cinematic that will greet you once you boot up the game (thanks, GamesRadar). So if you aren’t interested in what appears to be quiet light spoilers, I’d steer clear of this one....

Although Sony has yet to officially reveal the PS5’s main controller, earlier reports said it will look very similar to the DualShock 4. Just how similar? Well, according to a set of newly leaked photos: very. Someone who works at a video game developer posted a series of pictures they took of the PS5 devkit, which is seen alongside the new controller. Gnomes are back on the map this season and you’ll need to find three of them at a new location: Homely Hills. The Gnomes are quite large so they’re pretty easy to find, but the area is likely to get busy very quickly so grab a weapon before you head out or try to land there first. The challenges this week are relatively easy compared to other weeks, but this one is a little tricky. To complete the challenge, you’ll need to drive a car or a truck through a rift, and depending on what rift you use, it might be easier to use a truck. Vehicles can be found all over the Fortnite map, but your best bet is to land at one of the named locations close to the rifts to find the biggest selection, though larger trucks can be found abandoned on roads connecting different areas....

Thre are several gold door hatches in the water surrounding The Agency and you’ll need to be quick to swim over them all and avoid elimination. This area is going to get busy really quickly so spam that space bar to dive and swim rapidly over the hatches to net a bunch of XP. Epic Games is finally taking Fortnite out of Early Access. The label was a holdover from the game’s launch in 2017, and it was mostly relevant for the game’s PvE mode Save the World. This week, the game will no longer say Early Access anywhere. Initially, the plan was for Save the World to become free-to-play - like Battle Royale - when it graduates out of Early Access. This is no longer happening....
