The revolves around Stu – definitely not Stan – scribbling increasingly manic letters to Santa, as he outlines his desperate pleas for a PS5 (the only thing “keeping him alive”), as Walmart and GameStop face on-going stock shortages....

Called Sonic Colors Ultimate, the game is coming out on September 7. The game will feature updated controls, a new mode, and upscaled graphics. First released for Wii in 2010, Sonic Colors is a platformer that follows Sonic’s quest to stop Doctor Eggman from enslaving an alien race and taking over the world. The gameplay is very similar to other Sonic games, and it introduces Wisps, which are power-ups. It also shifts between side-scrolling and third-person perspectives....

Details on the games will be announced in the next few weeks. Sony said that over the past five years, more than 500 games and experiences have been made available on PS VR, and there have been some absolute favorites among the crowd of users, some of which vary by region. Globally, the most played PS VR titles are Rec Room, Beat Saber, PlayStation VR Worlds, Resident Evil 7, and Skyrim VR....

The PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, which has only been available in the console’s standard white, will soon get two more colours. Sony today announced Midnight Black, and Cosmic Red - the DualSense controller’s two new colours. Both new variants will be available beginning June at varying dates depending on where you are in the world (June 11 in the US and Canada) for the standard $70. Although these are two new colours, the design still retains the DualSense’s two-tone choice....

Insomniac released the Spider-Man: Mile Morales update today, enabling players to choose a mode that enables ray tracing at 60fps. Previously, players were only able to choose between two modes. One would allow you to run the game in 4K at 30fps with ray tracing, while the other choice was 4K at 60fps without ray tracing. Update 1.007.001 adds ray-tracing by adjusting the scene resolution, reflection quality, and pedestrian density (thanks, Gematsu)....

As shared on Resetera (thanks, PCGamesN), Square Enix has confirmed that a new Just Cause game is in development from its recent investors briefing, though pretty much nothing else was revealed other than the fact it exists. “Our materials provide an overview and details of the Transaction, but I note that its primary purpose was a reorientation of our portfolio,” reads the briefing report, discussing the recent, surprisingly cheap sale of a selection of IP and studios....

As part of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 update, the Age of Rebellion will bring specific planets to both co-op and later Supremacy. Alongside the update, Capital Supremacy will furthermore be known as just Supremacy. DICE said it is renaming this game mode to “encompass all eras” as the original trilogy variant will be fought “exclusively on the ground.” The team said it felt on ground combat would be a better fit for some of the locations....

EA revealed the results of its third quarter for FY2020 overnight, touching on a number of past releases and upcoming games. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a special highlight for EA, who said the game sold well above expectations. EA previously expected Jedi Fallen Order to sell 6-8 million by the end of FY2020. According to CFO Blake Jorgensen, the game has already hit the high-end of that projection - meaning 8 million - just in the third quarter, where it launched....

Mainly, the developer diary features game director Todd Howard, studio director Angela Browder, and art director Matt Carofano discussing how Bethesda Game Studios’ “ambitions, passions and history” have shaped the studio and how they are looking to the future with Starfield. If you are unfamiliar with the backstory for RPG, it is said to be set hundreds of years in the future and covers what humanity can do once it breaks free of the confines of the earth....

One of the games on sale is WW2 Rebuilder, which tasks you with rebuilding, renovating, and repairing cities destroyed during World War 2 where you will also get to know the history and stories of civilians. This immersive building simulator released on January 16 has a demo available. It’s a rather good game, as I have played the demo, and it has a Very Positive rating on Steam....

If you though Valve’s storefront and PC platform was impressive when it soared past the 25 million concurrent users landmark earlier this year, you’ll be floored to know it’s broken that record again. Twice. Steam yet again broke its own record an all-time high and managed to attract over an eye-watering 27,100,000 concurrent players on Saturday, November 27. The next day (Sunday, November 28) that record was broken once again as more than 27,300,000 flocked to play games over the holiday weekend....

Seemingly out of nowhere, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem saw a meteoric rise on Steam charts moments after leaving Early Access. Wolcen, which started life as a Kickstarted project named Umbra, has been in Early Access since March 2016. Over four years of development went into this isometric action RPG, which many thought would never see full release. Wolcen went from averaging less than 5,000 concurrent players to breaking into Steam’s top ten with over 62,000 at launch....

Fighting games are often fraught with netcode issues, matchmaking discrepancies, and general annoyances that tend to make the online experience a pale shadow of the immediacy and excitement of IRL tournaments, or just hanging around in an arcade in the nineties. This isn’t a problem unique to fighting games, of course: Zoom calls are mince compared to spending proper time with your mates. It is what it is. Capcom however appear to have nailed many of these issues in the Street Fighter 6 closed beta, which finished on Sunday, and impressed us with its smooth, generally lag-free presentation (even managing to put in a good show over wifi), and a social space that really does feel like hanging around in an arcade, complete with actual machines to sit down at in order to challenge nearby players to bouts....

Developers Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games announced the news in a new trailer which gives a first look at a new playable characters joining the Streets of Rage roster - the cybernetically-armed Floyd. “The new character, Floyd, dishes out serious damage with his incredibly strong cybernetic arms, a cutting-edge upgrade courtesy of Streets of Rage 3’s playable cyborg, Dr. Zan,” reads a prepared statement from the developers. “Although Floyd’s movement and health recovery are slower than most, he boasts the longest reach among the playable roster and tremendous power, ensuring any combo he puts an enemy through will be devastating....
