The Knockout City cross-platform beta test will be held April 2-4, and on all platforms: PC (Steam and Origin), Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox One Series X/S. There will be a new map available BackAlley Brawl, a new playlist, and a new ball called Super Ball during the cross-play beta. A PC-only beta was held last weekend. Update: The UKIE, the trade association representing the UK’s games industry, has responded to Murdoch’s report. In a statement, UKIE recognised the report’s main concern, but explained that parents and guardians are able to limit in-game spending using existing parenting controls. “The games industry takes its responsibility to players very seriously and acknowledges that some people are concerned. That is why on the 10th January we launched our Get Smart About PLAY campaign, which is designed to help parents and carers manage play online and in the home,” it reads....

You take a shot, then sprint to wherever your ball ended up before taking another shot. To aid you on your endeavor, you’ll be able to nab coins and pickups, and each character has a special shot – Luigi can freeze the ground, for some reason, and King Bob-omb can summon other Bob-ombs to help him protect where his balls land....

Now that its exclusivity period is over, Metro Exodus will be released through Steam on February 15. The date isn’t a surprise considering it was previously announced the game would arrive on the service after February 14, 2020. The company officially revealed the studio’s name today as 31st Union. The Silicon Valley-based studio was first announced in 2019. It is headed up by Sledgehammer Games co-founder, and former Visceral Games COO and director, Michael Condrey. The studio’s head of strategy is Activision’s former vice president of product management, Tyler Michaud. 31st Union will also expand its presence internationally, beginning with a European location which will be based in Spain....

As spotted by TwistedVoxel, Microsoft has closed a loophole that allowed players to redeem one year of EA Play at $30 for four months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – a cheaper way of getting that amount of time on Xbox’s subscription service that would usually set you back $15 per month. Xbox recently announced it would begin celebrating its 20th anniversary which is going to see a range of promotions go live to celebrate the milestone....

The two biggest arrivals are the Halo Infinite Limited Edition Xbox Series X, and the Limited Edition Elite Series 2 controller. Both will launch November 15, and they’re available now to pre-order. The Halo Infinite Limited Edition Xbox Series X is the console’s first limited edition. It features a custom design inspired by the Halo universe, with the top showing a star pattern visible from the surface of Zeta Halo that extends to cover the fan grill....

Speaking with TrueAchievements, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that missing Final Fantasy titles announced at X019 are still heading to the Xbox Game Pass service. “As we announced at X019, we are excited to bring the Final Fantasy franchise to gamers with Xbox Game Pass,” the spokesperson told TrueAchievements. “We have done so throughout 2020 and will continue to do so in 2021 and beyond. We look forward to announcing specific launch dates for more Final Fantasy titles in the future....

Speaking with the tech publication Protocol, Spencer said Sony and Nintendo are no longer considered competitors due to the lack of cloud tech such as Microsoft’s Azure platform. He went to say he would be willing to work with both Nintendo and Sony on cross-platform, something he has expressed interest in in the past. Spencer has said more than once the company is committed to the cloud, which is something that would allow people to play Microsoft games “where they want, when they want, on any device they want....

Back at the start of January, Capcom announced that the game would be getting a free ’limited time’ demo allowing players to ’try before they buy’ when it comes to the latest installment of the long-running franchise.
