Speaking to the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Del Toro spoke out of genuine frustration at the fact that his and Hideo Kojima’s collaboration, Silent Hills, was unceremoniously cancelled by Konami. Del Toro basically wanted to poke the publisher about it: “I kind of just wanted to tickle the ribs of Konami, because I don’t understand. That was so perfect, what we were going to do was so enthralling.” Not only did Del Toro firmly deny he was working on a new Silent Hill game, he shut down any possibility of working on any game, as he calls himself the “albatross” of gaming due to all of the games he’s tried to develop being cancelled, the other of which was Insanity, which was being developed in partnership with Saints Row developer Volition until it was canceled in 2012....

Electrical engineer Allen Pan decided one day he needed exercise, so he came up with the idea to turn an old treadmill into a PlayStation 4 controller. And he succeeded. While he still has to use the right stick on the controller to turn the camera, the left stick was removed and wired into the treadmill to control walking and running. That’s the short version, but the video goes into the engineering aspect of it from hooking up relays to connecting the controller....

Last night’s Halo Infinite technical preview livestream brought us an embarrassment of riches when it comes to new information, and new gameplay of the multiplayer portion of the game. The stream offered a first look at multiplayer gameplay on Xbox One, as well as Xbox Series X. For being an iconic Xbox game, Microsoft never actually showed Halo Infinite running on its Xbox consoles, we’ve just been seeing PC gameplay all this time....

The latest Forza Monthly stream brought us a look at the full map of Forza Horizon 5, as well as new gameplay exploring some of the game’s biomes. If you’re regular viewer of these streams, you’ll know that YouTube’s compression murders all the beauty and visual splendour. Playground Games doesn’t typically upload higher-quality raw capture of the footage, so it ends up underselling how good the game looks. Think for a second about the journey that this series has been on since Hitman 2016, a minor reboot for the adventures of Agent 47. Yes, Hitman is big enough to have had two different Hollywood movie adaptations, but Hitman 2016 had an interesting, difficult launch nevertheless. Released last week, Hitman 3’s developer has said the game has already turned a profit. “We have been really happy with the Hitman 3 journey,” IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak told GI.biz. “It has been a labor of love between our fans and everyone at the studio. There’s quite a lot to look forward to in IOI’s critically-acclaimed latest hit over the next month, and it all kicks off with The Lesley Celebration Escalation Contract that’ll take you back to Berlin’s impressive underground club. If you’re a fan of Archer, you’ll be pleased to know that Agent 47 will also be able to dress up in the Tactical Turtleneck outfit if he heads back to the ICA Facility and polishes off the final test....

If you miss your blood-drinking days, you can go back to being a vampire at any point, though there’s obviously a social price to pay for that. Officially unveiled during the PC Gaming Show earlier today, Icarus is the next game from RocketWerkz, Hall’s own studio. It tasks players with surviving (it is a survival game, after all) on a strange and obscure alien planet. Like most games of its ilk, it places a pretty heavy emphasis on crafting, meaning that you’ll have to dedicate time to gathering scarce resources in order to craft supplies and - you guessed it - survive....

Bascially, according to the body, the acquisition could cause the “substantial lessening of competition in gaming consoles, multi-game subscription services, and cloud gaming services.” The CMA is also concerned over game subscriptions as it belives without this deal, Activision Blizzard games may have eventually released on other subscription services. However, Microsoft says this is not the case, and the body’s “unsupported theories of harm” were not sufficient to justify the CMA calling for a Phase 2 investigation....

You can’t control how good your teammates are in Fall Guys team games. But you can predict how bad they will be, since landing on the yellow team seems to be a death sentence more often than not. Hatred for the yellows is so widespread, in fact, that it’s become a meme in the Fall Guys community. One such revival that’s held my attention for quite some time is Retro Bowl, which up until now has been a mobile-exclusive, 8-bit inspired NFL experience that is functionally quite similar to the likes of NES classic Tecmo Bowl. I wrote about Retro Bowl back in 2020, describing it as carrying “the spirit of Blitz” - that is, NFL Blitz, one of the greatest sports games ever made. Journey to the Savage Planet is Typhoon Studios’ first game, lead by Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed 3 director Alex Hutchinson. Journey to the Savage Planet is first-person adventure, with a heavy emphasis on discovery and exploration. The setup is simple: you’re part of a space exploration outfit, dropped onto a weird alien planet that you’re meant to explore to determine whether it’s capable of sustaining human life. Although you’ll mostly be cataloguing the flora and fauna you come across, the colourful adventure is wrapped in a comedic tone that you sort of need to see to appreciate....
