News of the EA Motive working on a Star Wars action game came in the form of a recent job listing for a software developer, according to multiple outlets. In October, the Star Wars Squadrons studio announced it was working on “several unannounced projects,” and it appears a new Star Wars game is just one of the games in the works. “In addition to Star Wars: Squadrons, we’re also working on several unannounced projects, said general manager Patrick Klaus....

Microsoft has taken to a blog post today to reveal that it will be taking a little longer to get EA Play’s considerable library of games onto the PC version of Game Pass. The service has become a central focus for Microsoft as it expands its Xbox brand into a service-based one. It currently offers a robust gaming library for a small fee and it has only gotten better with the inclusion of EA Play to the service....

The companies announced EA Play will be included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC starting this holiday. This means Ultimate members can use EA Play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows 10 PCs, and Game Pass for PC members get EA Play on Windows 10. Formerly known as EA Access and Origin Access, EA Play will bring more than 60 of the company’s games to the Xbox service....

As part of its Q4 2021 and full-year earnings call overnight, EA finally stopped beating around the bush and confirmed that Battlefield 6 won’t just be a PS5 and Xbox Series X/S game, as has been communicated from the start, but will also arrive on PS4 and Xbox One. The news isn’t particularly surprising, of course, as most publishers wouldn’t give up the tremendous sales potential that comes with releasing on mature consoles whose install base are close to 200 million....

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been one of few things in these dark days capable of bringing people joy. Even if you don’t actually own it, or have any interest in playing it, you can’t deny the game’s positive energy. Not content with New Horizons’ built-in happiness generators, Reddit user Kazoo-E has spent the last few days painstakingly recreating popular music videos using nothing more than existing characters and costumes, with some clever setup and editing....

Fortnite maker Epic has continued its war with Apple by filing an antitrust complaint against the tech giant. In a post on its website, the games firm said that it had filed the complaint with the European Union, saying that Apple has “carefully designed anti-competitive restrictions” with its App Store. The TL;DR here is that Epic is annoyed that it can’t sell things directly to consumers in its games on Apple devices under the platform’s restrictions....

The Epic Games vs. Apple trial continues to be a goldmine in revealing the corporate wheeling and dealing that goes on behind the scenes in the ultra-secretive video game industry. The latest reveal concerns Epic Games’ ambitions to have the Epic Games Store become the first destination for players to buy Microsoft, Sony and even Nintendo first-party exclusives. Among several tactics to grow the store’s userbase, Epic proposed a strategy to convince the top console platform holders to bring their games to PC....

A rating for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon - Classic Edition has popped up on the ESRB’s website, awarding the game a Mature rating. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon - Classic Edition is, of course, part of the Far Cry 6 season pass, so we’ve known that it’s coming for a while. But Ubisoft has yet to announce whether the game will be available as a standalone purchase later on, which this ESRB listing suggests would be the case....

After just half a season, your mediocre mid-table team could pillage the benches of Europe’s top clubs and stack their squad with players that would usually be far outside of their financial capability for the upcoming year. In FIFA 22 pre-contract signings are much rarer, but can be just as powerful when taking your team to the next level. This year, teams are much, much more proactive in tying down their wantaway talent before they leave for nothing....

First up, the game’s protagonist now has a name: Clive Rosfield. He’s the guy you saw in the trailer at two different points in his life – once as a younger soldier then again as an older character, too. Clive will be protecting his brother Joshua throughout the game. Joshua Rosfield has some sort of connection to classic Final Fantasy summon, Phoenix, and the duo’s story will have something to do with that....

Square Enix has posted a notice on the Steam pages for both Final Fantasy games that each will be pulled from Steam on July 27 (thanks, Siliconera). Instead, the company suggests you purchase the pixelated remaster version of Final Fantasy 6. So, if you want the original ports, you better act now. The pixelated remasters of 1-6 were announced via the Square Enix Presents showcase during E3 2021 earlier this month....

When you’re on the mission for the second reactor, you head up into the Sector 4 Plate. In this dungeon you have to turn off a range of sun lamps to open doors. At one point you pass a series of fans and you might spy some summon materia hidden behind one of them. When you get to the end and power up the final lift, you should head to collect the materia before you leave the Plate Mid-Level....

Air Buster, or ’the big boy’, as Barret calls it, was something of a joke boss in the original FF7. Even if you were under-leveled, he was weak. In FF7 Remake the developers have beefed Air Buster up considerably to make it a formidable opponent. The good news is that the newly expanded Mako Reactor 5 section of the game has an entire mechanic dedicated to weakening Air Buster - and there’s player choice thrown in, too....

This third-person action RPG, released in August, is one of a growing number of ‘soulslikes’ - games that are heavily inspired by the Souls series. These games, developed by FromSoftware, have captured the imaginations of players and developers alike with their fascinating worlds, intricate level design, gripping gameplay and harsh difficulty since the release of Demon’s Souls in 2009....

As a series, Fire Emblem is structurally quite similar to things like Final Fantasy and Persona, in that each game is usually a relatively enclosed affair. There are crossovers, and very occasionally there are direct sequels, but for the most part each game stands on its own, connected primarily by strategy RPG mechanics that are tweaked and flavored in each game with unique gimmicks. Such is the case with Engage, but with the fanservice for the series’ past both bulked out and streamlined all at once....
