Today is the day we got another PlayStation 5 livestream. The PS5 Showcase is 40 minutes in runtime, and features a look at first and third-party games coming to Sony’s next-gen console at launch and beyond. If you haven’t already seen it, get on it. The show kicked off today at 1pm PDT, 4pm EDT, 9pm BST, 10pm CEST. After European retailers already let the price of the PS5 slip, Sony confirmed the numbers that matter....

According to the company, today’s presentation will mostly focus on Resident Evil Village – we’re due to get our very first look at the gameplay of the title, and we’re promised more information about the characters, setting and tone of the game, too. Last week, Capcom published a tweet that noted the info will be presented in a new Direct-style video that will be released on Thursday, January 21. The livestream is set to begin at 2pm PT/ 5pm ET/ 10pm GMT....

Resident Evil Village had a pretty smashing reveal when Capcom officially unveiled it in June. The developer has since confirmed some light details about the inventory system but that was about it. Capcom left us with a promise of more details to be revealed over the summer. Now, noted leaker Dusk Golem is saying that the game’s next showing will be in August. According to them, we’re getting a new trailer and “some other things” - likely details in blog posts or pre-arranged interviews....

Twin-stick shooter West of Dead, starring Ron Perlman as William Mason, is back in open beta on PC and Xbox One. This is the third open beta to be held on Xbox One as the first went live in November when the game was announced at X19. This is the second time it has been made available for Steam users on PC. The beta will run through April 13, and as with the last beta, the developers recommend PC users play with a gamepad....

They don’t look terribly flashy, but extra memory is an easy way to improve performance on any console or PC, as well as giving you a safe place to back up files. The problem is, prices are often steep. Right now on the Western Digital online store you can find a number of discounts on WD_Black products, including hard drives and docks, all designed specifically for gaming. There’s also good offers on general products in the weekly sale – a WD Blue SSD card, or a SanDisk Portable SSD....

Bombs destroyed the bridge as part of the story, which means you can’t access Staunton Island until progressing the story to a certain point. That’s only if you want to play by the rules, though. When does the bridge open in GTA 3? Callahan Bridge blocks you from accessing Staunton Island, though it opens once you clear the Last Requests mission. Last Requests is a fairly simple follow-up to the Portland mission and just has you following prompts to reach a certain location....

Polish studio CD Projekt is trying to keep a lid on what goes on in Cyberpunk 2077, but we know one thing for sure. The voice of The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia, Doug Cockle, is not going to be making a cameo in the studio’s latest release. Speaking to Eurogamer, the voice actor confirmed that he hasn’t had any involvement in the project. “Sadly, I haven’t had any involvement with Cyberpunk thus far,” he said....

But with that success comes issues. Players have been reporting bugs, data loss, and an inability to connect to the game at all since Wolcen released. The developers are aware of these problems and are doing what they can to address them. To make that work, though, they need to take some extra steps. First up, they can’t apply hotfixes as issues pop up, since that’s been creating more issues and leading to progress loss....

Kingdom Under Fire: The Crusaders has been released for PC on Steam, and features visual improvements, full controller support, and new KBM mode. Blueside’s port also supports widescreen HD and the metal soundtrack is still intact. Metal rules. You can see some of the visual improvements made between the original Xbox version and the Steam release in the video below. In the game, you will need to strategically improve and expand your forces using spells, special abilities, and equipment....

Final Fantasy 14 coming to Xbox platforms has been rumoured, hinted at and seemingly confirmed by Phil Spencer at one point. But fans keep waiting, and every major update, including the recently announced Endwalker expansion, comes and goes without any Xbox news. This has been particularly bizarre to watch, because Square Enix has been making more and more of its Final Fantasy games available on Xbox and other platforms it traditionally skipped....

Speaking to VG247, Stratton explained that the team at id Software were working long hours in the lead up to the delay, and that pushing Doom Eternal back has let the team get the game up to the level of quality they feel their effort deserves. “I say it’s the best game we’ve ever made. I don’t think I’d say that if we didn’t have that extra time,” Stratton said....

But Kingdom Hearts 4 finds itself in a very different media landscape, where just a few companies own a huge amount of the relevant pop-culture franchises, and everything is a crossover extended universe. When so many properties are under one umbrella, the only limit to how deep the fan-service can go is how brave the licensing team are feeling that afternoon. And whether it’s Tina’s leaving party in the office that day, and whether the emergency bottle of schnapps has come out for the occasion....

That being said, if you’re a new player to the franchise, or maybe someone who hasn’t dipped their toes into Master Chief’s boots for some time, it may be a lot to take in at once! A lot of these tips may be familiar for those who braved Blood Gulch back on the original Xbox, but even the most classic of strats remain true pillars of gameplay even all these years later....

This news is interesting because we haven’t seen a new console Brothers in Arms game since Hell’s Highway back in 2008. Since then, the Brothers in Arms franchise has been a mobile franchise published by Gameloft. The other interesting thing is that we don’t know if this represents an actual console return or if Gearbox is making another mobile game. Randy Pitchford has been talking about reviving the Brothers in Arms franchise for the better part of a decade, whether it’s via the cancelled Furious 4 or just hyping up a potential return to form that hasn’t materialized yet....

This is according to developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, stating the focus of the next update will be mods, but there will be a little something for everyone else. “It’s mostly a modding-focused update - makes modders lives easier,” said Barone. “There will be some new content, but it won’t be huge.” The last content update to the game, 1.5, was released in December 2020 and brought with it local split-screen multiplayer mode, a new island, a new farming area, additional NPCs, more puzzles, new fishing tackle, and much more....

News that Townsend has stepped down comes in the wake of criticism stemming from a combative company email and of her retweeting an article calling out whistleblowers. According to an article published by The Washington Post, Townsend stated that by stepping down as sponsor, she is doing what’s “right for the Network.” Townsend also stated she will “continue to support and advance the work of the Network as best she can,” (thanks, IGN)....
