When the Steam store updates this afternoon, Tropico 6 will be free to play all weekend. Additionally, Lobbyistico, the game’s third DLC, is out now and offers access to “big league politics,” as the European Union has arrived on the isles of Tropico. You can expect three new buildings such as the El Presidente Club, and it also adds the Corruption Agency, which was formed to “fight the spread of corruption....
One of the slightly more surprising announcements at The Game Awards was the reveal of a new Bayonetta game, as Bayonetta 3 only just launched in October. This prequel game serves as somewhat of an origin story for Bayonetta, as the name suggests, and is out quite soon, next March in fact. Except the biggest surprise is that the game was hidden in plain sight the entire time, as a hidden chapter in Bayonetta 3 itself....
As spotted by VGC, Twisted Metal’s showrunner Michael Johnathon posted a tweet over the weekend noting that season one of the show had finished shooting. The show was greenlit back in 2021, and has writers from the Deadpool films attached as well. “The cast and crew of Twisted Metal was something special,” wrote Johnathon in a tweet. “Even with lightning delays, extreme heat, and cars that wouldn’t do as they’re told, everyone worked as hard as they could to make sure Twisted Metal kicked as much as possible....
Not content with taking over the videogame/TV market with The Witcher and Castlevania, Netflix is expanding further into the world of geekdom with more shows based on Ubisoft IP. First up, the Splinter Cell animated show will follow the exploits of an aged, haggard Sam Fisher. During the company’s Q2 earnings call, Ubisoft announced that it is both a founding member of the Blockchain Game Alliance and has helped fund blockchain-focused developer Animoca Brands – a company that calls itself “the global leader in branded blockchain gaming.” As per IGN, Animoca’s current projects include Revv Motorsport, Revv Racing, and Formula E: High Voltage (not yet released), all of which use the REVV token which allows players to purchase in-game items, which they can own as NFTs....
The UKIE has published the results of the first UK games industry census focused on diversity in the workforce. The process was carried out by the University of Sheffield between September and October 2019. Over that time, 3,200 game workers participated, about 20% of the UK games industry. The findings, shared by Dr. Mark Taylor, reveal that 70% of the workforce is made up of men, compared to 28% women, and 2% non-binary....

In a tweet, the developer showed off a short video that featured two geese honking at each other. Repeatedly. And aggressively. The second playable goose (which sports a slightly pinker bill and feet than the original goose, as well as a basal knob) has a somewhat more shrill honk than its predecessor. The devlopers noted that the update forces a fresh location generation of the game worlds which will cause slightly longer loading times the first time you open them - and it might slightly move some boss locations....

Over the past few days, a controversy has been brewing in the nascent Valorant community. It all has to do with Vanguard, the game’s anti-cheat tech. Players in the closed beta discovered that the anti-cheat software kicks in as soon as you start your PC, and continues to run in the background even when you’re not playing Valorant. After initially raising concerns that this could affect the performance of other games, or cause unforeseen conflicts, players were alerted to a potentially bigger issue....
Announced last fall, the narrative RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is coming to in 2021. In development at Big Bad Wolf, the game puts you in the shoes of three different vampires, each of which belongs to a different clan. Each character has their own vampiric disciplines that can be upgraded to suit your preferred approach. The game features “intertwined stories,” where you will need to discover what is fact and what is fiction and make choices that will affect the future of the Boston Camarilla....

The official PC requirements for Watch Dogs: Legion were actually announced back in September, but this week, Ubisoft revealed an updated list with more details on ray tracing. Legion, of course, offers ray traced reflections and supports Nvidia’s upscaling tech DLSS. The new set of requirements more specifically reveal which DLSS mode is required at each of the different resolutions. They also incorporate the new RTX 3000-series cards into the list....
Title Update 4.0 introduces exclusive content for Watch Dogs: Legion Season Pass holders in single-player and in the online mode. The update includes a new playable hero character, Mina Sidhu, who “wields the power of mind control” and can take full control of an enemy with her Mind-Control Device, the OMNI Optik. She is also equipped with a Mental Blast that can disrupt nearby enemies. It also comes with a new DedSec Stories mission, Swipe Right....
Even years on from release, the details Rockstar packed into Red Dead Redemption 2 continue to inspire and surprise us. Hunting was a major component of the experience, but it’s something many likely avoided. In order to get these hunts to feel right, Rockstar modelled animal behaviour into the game AI, so that the wildlife can independently function without any input from players. The developer created 200 species of animals, and spent a lot of time figuring out how they could interact with the world and other species....

Thanks to these first impressions, we now know that PS5 runs very quiet.
