According to Bloomberg, citing multiple unnamed sources familiar with the project, Activision is pointing towards “a recent entry” in the series not performing as well as the publisher would like as the reason for the delay. The game isn’t named, but let’s be honest, it’s probably Vanguard, right? The game’s launch sales were down 40% compared to 2020’s CoD game – and that’s a pretty hardcore slump. So what is going to fill that giant Call of Duty-sized hole in the middle of the gaming industry for a full 12 months, instead?...

An air date was not provided. Nintendo said back in July it was working on a content update, and it sounds as though this will be the one. While the short teaser didn’t reveal much in the way of content, it did confirm the cafe known as The Roost is coming to the game, which means you can expect Brewster to be included. It appears the character will be located near the art gallery....

The free demo for Outriders is coming to Steam, PS4, and Xbox One. If you want to play it on PS4, you will need a PlayStation Plus subscription. It will also be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The download size for the demo will be 24GB on PC, and a minimum 22GB on consoles, possibly more after decompression on both platforms. Pre-loading is not currently planned to be available for the demo....

Haddad’s passing was confirmed today by developer Invader Studios, which he worked with on a tribute to the retro-horror Daymare: 1998. “Paul Haddad, our dear friend and an icon among the RE community, has passed away recently. We’ve been truly honored to have the chance to meet and work with such a great man and a brilliant professional that He was.” An obituary in The Star states Haddad passed on April 11 - “peacefully and comfortably, after a brief and unexpected illness....

What’s so special about the Royal Edition, though? Well, it adds hours of additional content to the substantial JPRG. The most significant is the whole new semester at the end of the main game. Lucid Games announced the new plans via an announcement on the game’s official Reddit page. The developer has been using Reddit to keep in touch with the game’s playerbase, and offered this new hint at future plans in a length dev blog update. “With a community the size of Destruction AllStars, spread out across the world we do have peak times and low times of player activity for online matchmaking,” Lucid Games explained....

There are a variety of government bodies currently scrutinising the the deal, and one of them is the UK’s department of Competition and Markets Authority. As part of the case studying whether the anticipated acquisition by Microsoft Corporation of Activision Blizzard is all above board and healthy for the overall video game market, the government body has published both Sony and Microsoft’s responses to its findings. Bend Studios’ 2019 PS4 title Days Gone finds you facing down hordes of undead (Freakers) which are meandering through the post-apocalyptic world while riding around on your motorbike. You play the role of former outlaw biker Deacon St. John, a bounty hunter, who will scavage through abandoned settlements for equipment to craft valuable items and weapons....

This is according to a new PlayStation Plus guide posted on the PS Blog. What this means is that if you have DLC for a PS3 game, you won’t be able to play the additional content, and the only way to play PS3 games is through streaming. But this will also be the case with any streaming title. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, just one of the PS3 games confirmed to be coming with the new Plus, is one such game with DLC....

Pokemon Go players can now get decked out in some pretty fancy Gucci items. The collaboration kicked off yesterday (January 4), with users told they can head to more than 100 PokeStops around the world to pick up gear T-shirts, hats and backpacks from The North Face x Gucci Collection for their avatars. People can also buy these items in real life in-store if they want to match their in-game persona....

Special versions of Pikachu are of course something of a Pokemon series tradition - from the various party hat variants of everybody’s favorite electric mouse in Pokemon Go through to the classic Surfing Pikachu, a variant so cool that many of us nineties kids bought and played the first-gen Pokemon games all over again just to have the novelty of a Pikachu with a water-type move. Recent reports from players already participating in the Pokemon Go Kanto Throwback Challenge suggest that those who managed to complete tasks so far did so unintentionally. Apparently, Niantic accidentally opened a window during which players could temporarily instigate their Kanto Throwback Challenge by unknowingly completing one of its tasks. Its official response to the situation, posted on the verified Niantic Support Twitter account, can be seen below. “Trainers, research was released to some Trainers ahead of schedule,” the response reads....

During the spring Pokemon Go festivities, Buneary will be wearing a flower crown, while egg and spring-centric Pokemon will appear more often in the wild. Pokemon Eggs will also hatch with Pichu and Togepi also wearing flower crowns. Niantic is continuing to provide ways to enjoy the game in an individual setting. Because of this, you’ll receive 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators until further notice, so be sure to turn on Adventure Sync....

Announced today during the Pokemon Presents livestream event for the pocket monsters’ 25 anniversary, Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a new kind of entry in the series from developer Game Freak. This is a 3D action RPG, similar in style to something like Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that sees players exploring an older version of the Sinnoh region in order to complete the first-ever Pokedex. Things aren’t all that different from your regular Pokemon game; your character still starts the game by picking one of three starter Pokemon - Rowlet, Cyndaquil, or Oshawott - from a mysterious professor who has been travelling around the world and has presumably been the Johto, Unova and Alola regions....

The first Bayonetta game, when it launched back in 2009, was multiplatform: arriving on PlayStation and Xbox consoles (and later coming to PC). Since then, however, Nintendo has published the series and as such both Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3 have been exclusive to Nintendo platforms. Bayonetta 2 initially launched on the ill-fated Wii U, and later saw a re-release on Nintendo Switch. That same exclusivity applies to the upcoming Bayonetta 3, too....
