The Big House, a Super Smash Bros. tournament, has been cancelled after Nintendo issued a cease and desist order. The event organisers announced the news via Twitter, saying that Nintendo of America ordered it to cancel the tournament over its use of mods. The Big House is a US Smash Bros tournament that has been taking place every year since 2011. This year’s online-only event was set to have fans brawling in Nintendo Switch title Smash Bros Ultimate, as well as GameCube release, Smash Bros Melee....

People bought more Nintendo Switch consoles than any other games hardware in the United States last month. That’s according to sales tracker NPD Group, which reports that the regular Nintendo Switch and Lite variant shifted 1.35 million units in the country in November. This was likely partly driven by both the Black Friday sales event and folks buying presents for Christmas. NPD says that this is the 24th month in a row that Nintendo’s machine has come out on top....

Team Ninja has released a new update for the PC version of Nioh 2 earlier. Patch 1.27 finally brings keyboard and mouse icon prompts, something that’s been bizarrely missing since launch. Nioh 2 had instead been displaying controller prompts even when using mouse and keyboard controls. If you’re playing Nioh 2 with mouse and keyboard you can turn this setting on under System > Keyboard & Mouse Settings > Control Icons....

Three years ago, the studio released the Beyond update that added a virtual reality experience to the game. Made available for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and PlayStation VR, Beyond was made available as a free update for the game. Now, the team is working on bringing No Man’s Sky to PlayStation VR2. For the original PSVR, the studio rebuilt the game from the ground up. This included cockpits, control systems, land vehicles, menu systems, interfaces, teleportation controls, terrain manipulation, warp effects, and more....

You can now use your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S gamepads with Nvidia’s Shield streaming box. In a post on the hardware’s website, Nvidia wrote these controllers can be used for playing games via both its GeForce Now streaming service, as well as Android releases, thanks to the new 8.2.2 software update. In order to connect the PS5’s DualSense gamepad, you have to press down both the PlayStation and Share buttons until the controller’s light pulses blue....

This all plays into one of the biggest complaints with the Duelsense Edge: it’s battery life. Microsoft had planned to announce the release date and other information on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X next week, but leaks thwarted those plans. Now, the entire Xbox Virtual Press Briefing has leaked online. As noted by Neowin, the pre-recorded presentation is a scripted interview featuring Xbox’s senior director of marketing Cindy Walker interviewing Xbox boss Phil Spencer and other members of the team. Pokemon Go players can participate in the annual Valentine’s Day event starting on Sunday, February 14. The event kicks off at 1pm local time and ends on February 18 at 8pm local time. During this time, Munna and Musharna will be making their debut in the game. Munna will be appearing in the wild, and you can use the Unova Stone to evolve it into Musharna. Appearing more often in the wild will be both male and female versions of Nidoran, and Plusle, Minun, Volbeat, Illumise, Luvdisc, and more are expected....

Pokemon Unite will finally be released for iOS and Android on September 22. Those who pre-register for the game will earn rewards revolving around Pikachu, but that’s not all, as the pre-registration phase is being handled in similar fashion to PokeFest, as it will feature community-style goals to hit. One goal rewards everyone with a Pikachu Unite License if 2.5 million pre-register. Should 5 million pre-register, folks will be handed a Pikachu Special Festival Style Holowear....

That’s because the game about the experience of pulling possessions out of boxes and fitting them into a new home will be released for PS4 and PS5 on May 10. If you are unfamiliar with the title, it’s a game about taking someone’s items out of boxes and learning about that person’s life in the process. Unpacking starts in 1997 and moves forwards through time, and is a part block-fitting puzzle, part home decoration game where you are tasked with creating a living space while learning clues about the life you’re unpacking....

Today, there was yet another update to the game’s SteamDB page that added a Steam Deck controller profile. What does that mean? The game is probably coming to PC, and it will be playable on Steam Deck (thanks, Resetera). Given that features like this are being added right now – before the PC version of the title is even announced – suggests there could be quite a short window between the game’s announcement and its release on Steam/Steam Deck....
