Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has posted an apology video to try and explain how and why the studio decided to ship the PS4 and Xbox One versions in the state they were in. The studio also gave an update on the free DLCs promised, and the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S patches. In a video message delivered by CDPR co-founder Marcin Iwinski, the executive started by acknowledging that the decision to ship the console versions was ultimately made by management....

Destiny 2: Beyond Light introduces Stasis, a new element rumoured to be linked to Darkness-related powers. Not a lot is known about Stasis, but Bungie shared a first look at the new Stasis subclasses for Warlocks (Shadebinder), Titans (Behemoth) and Hunters (Revenants) today on Opening Night Live. Warlocks’ rad ice staff can lay down a field that slows enemies and there are rumours we’ll be able to self revive. Titans have a gauntlet of sorts that sends out an ice wave, whereas Hunters get two small ice sickles they can use as projectiles....

EA and DICE have announced an impromptu Battlefield 2042 livestream, where members of the development team are going to talk about the game’s first week of reveals. The show airs today on Battlefield’s Twitch channel, at 8am PT, 11am ET, 4pm UK. Microsoft has announced the latest round of games coming to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Kicking things off this week on February 18 is Code Vein (PC), Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire – Ultimate Edition (Cloud and Console), and Wreckfest (Cloud, Console, and PC). The following week on February 23 Killer Queen Black (Cloud and Console) arrives, and come February 25, Dirt 5 (Cloud, Console, and PC) will be released on the service alongside Elite Dangerous (Console) and Superhot: Mind Control Delete (PC)....

Earlier this year, Star Wars blogs reported that Project Luminous, Disney’s codename for the next phase of Star Wars, would be a cross-media campaign with overlapping, interconnected stories set hundreds of years before the Skywalker Saga. This is according to a report from XFire which states that during an internal town hall-style meeting, EA stated the game didn’t perform up to expectations. The report states that in the meeting, EA chief studios officer Laura Miele and other executives from the company discussed Battlefield 2042’s launch woes. In the meeting, Miele states that Halo Infinite’s “surprise” multiplayer launch just four days before the release of Battlefield 2042 hurt the game....

EA published strong results for its first quarter of FY2021. Following the earnings reveal, EA executives took a investor questions. Recent reports that Warner Bros.’ parent company is looking to sell the gaming unit name-dropped EA - among others - as a potential buyer, and you can bet this question came up. EA COO Blake Jorgensen fielded one such question, clarifying the company’s approach to acquisitions. Jorgensen opened by saying that EA is always looking at studios up for sale, but that he wouldn’t be able to specifically comment on the matter of Warner Bros....
