Battlefield 2042 maps are massive, much bigger than even the biggest maps in the series up to that point. This was done to support 128 players, but naturally created its own side effects. For one, the maps have a lot of dead space and open areas with no cover, as players travel between capture points. This emphasis on size has left the edges of maps less detailed, or worse. Reddit user Darktoothone discovered that for some of those areas, DICE may have even neglected to add collision boxes....

In Australia, Disco Elysium – The Final Cut has been refused classification due to its contents. According to the government’s classification board, games that “depict, express or otherwise deal with matters of sex, drug misuse or addiction, crime, cruelty, violence or revolting or abhorrent phenomena in such a way that they offend against the standards of morality, decency and propriety generally accepted by reasonable adults,” should not be classified. In order for the game to be sold in Australia, ZA/UM will need to make some cuts for the region, or just not make it available....

The studio had planned to release a free Invasion Mode for Doom Eternal, but due to the consequences of the pandemic and remote working, development was impacted. According to id, it has also seen how much players enjoy the range of gameplay and combat available in The Ancient Gods expansions and master levels, so it has decided to bring players a different mode instead: Horde Mode. It is a new, single-player experience that the studio feels will offer more of “the diversity and challenge” players have been looking for in the game....

During the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event that took place on Saturday, March 6, the publisher revealed that the newest fighter to fill out the burgeoning roster would arrive on March 12. If you own FighterZ Pass 3, you will be able to play as Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta on March 10. Gogeta, who was announced alongside Super Baby 2 back in December 2020, is known to Dragon Ball veterans as one of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball GT – and that’s reflected in the video below, which shows the souped-up Super Saiyan making short work of Super Baby....

A new report from Polygon has revealed that Electronic Arts is planning to delay the launch of the next game in the Need For Speed franchise. For the time being, the developer will be moved over to help with the development of Battlefield 6 - which is still aiming to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X later this year. In the interview, EA’s chief studios officer Laura Miele noted that a mix of issues involving the pandemic, EA’s acquisition of Codemasters, and the launch of a racing game in the past 12 months all contributed to Criterion’s reassignment....

Madden 21 will feature a “generic” Washington team now that the team will no longer be called the Washinton Redskins. Earlier this week, it was announced the team name and logo would be retired, after years of pressure from the Native American community. The change to a generic team name will come via an automatic update to the football game at launch, as it is currently too close to shipping to change it in time....

As per Eurogamer, Epic Games has removed the Out West emote (which features a sample the musician’s music) alongside all other items in the shop’s Daily section. Originally slated to release this year on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, Evil Dead: The Game has instead been delayed to February 2022. According to the developer, Boss Team Games, the extra time will give the team a chance to give it some extra polish and to ensure it is the “ultimate Evil Dead experience you’re all waiting for.” The additional time will also allow the team to implement a single-player option....

The way I see it, when you’re making a sequel to something that came out a very long time ago, you can go one of two ways. On one hand, you can take the time passed as an opportunity to take that franchise off in bold new directions. On the other, you could simply bring what made the original beloved up-to-date with modern standards and conventions. Evil Genius 2 is the latter - and it’s great....
