Respawn has confirmed that Apex Legends will arrive on Steam November 4 with the launch of the game’s Season 7. All progress will carry over from the Origin version, so you should be okay to switch. The developer recently showed off three new weapon charms designed with help from Valve, themed after Half-Life and Portal. All three will be free to players who log into the game through Steam, for a limited time following launch....

Ubisoft has detailed patch 1.1.2 for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which launches today on all platforms. This is one of the game’s biggest so far, with a download size anywhere between 10.23GB on the low end to 19.53GB on the high end. Update 1.1.2 goes live today at 4am PT, 7am ET, 12pm UK and adds the new River Raids game mode. River Raids is part of the Yule season content, and it offers a replayable mode for you and your Jomsviking crew....

This comes according to a statement on Ubisoft’s German online store, spotted by eagle-eyed Twitter account AccessTheAnimus. Translated from its original German, an overview of the game’s physical Collector’s Edition promises “[a] selected soundtrack of the game with music by renowned composers” including Selvik, Jesper Kyd, and Sarah Shachner. Jesper Kyd is a veteran of Ubisoft, composing soundtracks for titles within the Assassin’s Creed series, as well as elsewhere - from the Hitman series to Borderlands....

Ahead of title update 1.4.1, Ubisoft has warned anyone that wants to keep playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that they will need a complete reinstall to ensure the game works correctly from here on out. The upside? The whole thing will take up less space as a result. As per a new post over on the Ubisoft forum, the publisher noted that you can expect to re-download an approximate download of 78GB on PC, 67GB on PS4, 40GB on PS5, 62GB on Xbox One, and 71GB on Xbox Series X/S....

The Balan Wonderworld demo will be available to play from January 28, allowing players to experience two hours of gameplay ahead of its release on March 26. It can be played with friends and family in local co-op mode or in single-player mode and will be available on each platform that the full game will be released on. This means you will be able to play it on Steam for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S....

If you’re playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, you can only use the consoles’ default controllers. On PC, however, you can easily plug in a controller and enjoy the best of both worlds. Battlefield 2042 even supports on-the-fly input swapping, which allows players to fly/drive vehicles using a controller and keep mouse and keyboard for infantry combat. This is in stark contrast to Battlefield 2042’s competitors, chiefly Call of Duty - which has been allowing both input methods on every platform for years now....

The first episode of EA Play Live Spotlight had a focus on first-person shooters. Though it did not bring us a lot of news to talk about, it did reveal few more hints about the Ripple Effect (DICE LA)-developed mode in Battlefield 2042. Ripple Effect’s GM, Christian Grass, was one the panellists, and he opened up somewhat about the mode his team is working on. According to Grass, the new experience will incorporate some of the series’ fan-favourite maps into Battlefield 2042....

World War 3, the indie shooter from Chernobylite developer The Farm 51, was one multiplayer shooter Battlefield fans were especially excited to play. The game replicates much of what Battlefield is known for, and, in the absence of a recent modern military Battlefield, many looked to WW3 to scratch the same itch. Unfortunately, the game’s early access launch left many disappointed thanks to a host of bugs, performance issues, and fundamental problems with the game’s core mechanics in movement, shooting and map design....

In a new statement, publisher Nacon has announced that Blood Bowl 3 will come to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch this summer. The announcement about the American Football-inspired Warhammer-based game was made, unsurprisingly, off the back of the Superbowl hype that built up until last night, and whose hangover-like effects you can see on the internet today. The SEC, if you need a quick primer, is a government agency that primarily deals with protecting investors and maintaining the status quo of stock markets. Given that we’ve already seen movements from shareholders eager to sue Activision Blizzard for hiding the sexual harassment probe before it went mainstream, the involvement of the SEC now is no big surpirse. As per The Wall Street Journal, the SEC has requested documents going as far back as 2019 in an effort to review communications between Activision Blizzard executives regarding complaints of sexual harassment and discrimination....

Earlier this week Steam hit 20,313,476 concurrent users and CSGO hit 1,024,845 concurrent players. Yesterday, Steam broke that record with 21,360,226 concurrent users, and CSGO hit 1,060,189 concurrent players (thanks, DSO Gaming). As of press time, current players of CSGO number 1,053,911 and today’s peak hit 1,065,790 besting yesterday’s figures. Total concurrent users on Steam right now come in at 22,101,886 and peaked earlier today at 22,378,747 - once again, breaking yesterday’s figures....

It looks like hackers weren’t bluffing. Everyone had moved on from CD Projekt’s major ransomware hack from earlier in the year, when it was believed that the nightmare is over after a mysterious buyer obtained all data in a deal worth millions, with the condition that the data won’t be shared afterwards. But last week, a group of hackers claimed they have access to the same stolen data, and organised a fundraiser whereby buyers could donate $10,000 to obtain passwords that would let them access the different archives....

In Bugsnax, you play as a grumpus journalist who’s been invited to the isle of Bugsnax by Elisabert Megafig, an intrepid adventurer with a strong Australian accent. You know, the Crocodile Dundee type. Grumpuses are basically a cross between a walrus and a Fall Guy - huge eyes, fangs, generally cuddly appearance. 11 of them decided to join Elisabert on her hunt for a fresh start and only the tastiest snacks, but when you arrive on the island yourself, the inhabitants of the newly-founded town of Snaxburg have fallen out with each other, and Elisabert, who was responsible for getting food on the table, is nowhere to be found....

The NPD January 2021 report has been released, and it finds total industry spending in January 2021 reached a January record of $4.7 billion, 4which is 42% higher year-over-year. Hardware dollar sales reached $319 million, which is 144% higher than in January 2020, making it the highest total January month since 2011 when $$323 million was achieved. Once again, Nintendo Switch was the best-selling hardware platform in units sold and was the highest of any January month since the Wii in January 2010....

As detailed through Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer reveal, the map design will be rooted in “the game’s realistic and historical setting,” putting you smack in the middle of ab early 1980s Cold War narrative. Multiplayer maps will take you to the Angolan desert, frozen lakes of Uzbekistan, the streets of South Beach Miami, and the North Atlantic waters and event to Moscow. Treyarch called this a small array of maps that will be available at launch....

Today’s big Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update evidently brought us more than we bargained for. Though the update doesn’t introduce too many new additions, it did deploy a lot of content behind the scenes. Some of this is intended for Season 3, future store updates and the like. The biggest discovery, however, comes by way of Reddit user Senescallo, who datamined a number of details pertaining to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered....

You read that right, you can currently earn twice as many experience points for your own level, your guns, your operators, your clan and the battle pass. This bonus will last until November 22. November 22 is also when the free multiplayer weekend wraps up. The free weekend is available on all platforms, and includes access to multiplayer maps, operators and weapons. Zombies is not included in this one. It certainly looks like a way of tempting players back into the World War 2 shooter as Battlefield 2042 and Halo Infinite’s multiplayer beta start turning heads....

Duos have been added to the Call of Duty: Warzone playlist. This is something battle royale players have been asking for, so if you are one, jump in and have some fun. According to the tweet from Infinity Ward, the playlist update also includes solos, trios, quads, and Plunder quads. While you are playing, don’t forget it’s a double progression weekend. Starting today and until Sunday, June 1 all players can earn double XP, weapon XP, and Battle Pass tier progression....
