Sony rolled out a new firmware for PlayStation 5 this morning. The platform holder is still sticking with the comically long version numbers, so this week’s update is 21.01-03.20.00.04-00.00.00.0.0. Seeing as there was no prior announcement, you probably already guessed that it’s another incremental update. That said, we did actually end up getting some proper patch notes this time around. The patch fixes a bug that caused games hidden on PS4 to still appear on PS5....

In the PS5 breakdown video, you get a look at the internal workings of the console which was in design for five years. As Neowin notes, what you see in the video will be a look at the USB ports on the front and the 10Gbps USB Type-A ports, the HDMI port, and the power connector on the back of the console. You get a look at the stand, the removable side plates, and the cooling fan, along with a slot for an SSD storage expansion....

Alongside Sonic, the free content update for Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 also adds a new boss raid mode. Players can look forward to new characters, a fresh game mode, new background music, and 20 new avatars with the update. Four new playable characters are joining the game: Sonic the Hedgehog, Lidelle, Ms. Accord, and The Ocean Prince. Each of the characters has their own skills in talent battle mode. The new online mode Boss Raid has players teaming up to defeat a mutual opponent for cooperative fun....

Ubisoft has already told us that we’re going to be seeing more of its next Rainbox Six game at E3 2021, but now we know what it’s going to be called, too: Rainbow Six Extraction. In a new press release, the publisher confirms that Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction – to give it its full name – will have a full reveal on June 12 Ubisoft Forward. In case you’re unaware, Extraction is an expanded version of the 2018 Siege limited-time event called Outbreak, where three players were pitted against mutated monsters....

Starting March 5, you will be able to play Rainbow Six Siege for free until March 8. This covers PS4, Xbox One, and PC through the Epic Games Store and Steam. The free weekend gives you access to all maps, modes, and 20 legacy Operators and progression and acquired in-game content will carry over should you decide to purchase it. To sweeten the idea of purchasing it, Ubisoft is also running a sale on the game....

One name there stands out from the pack: Red Dead Redemption 2. As per a statement on the PlayStation blog, Red Dead Redemption 2 will join the service this month and then remain on PS Now until November 1. The game – as with everything on PS Now – is playable on PS4 and Ps5. If you’re interested in playing the game, though, that should be more than enough time to polish off both the single-player campaign and Red Dead Online, which is also included with the download....

The Hot Coffee mod, as it came to be called - named after the fact CJ’s girlfriend would invite him in for a coffee and they’d go to Bone Town - was a nightmare for Rockstar at the time. I like to imagine it would be less controversial now, since we’ve moved on from polygonal character models flailing around, and plenty of games have full-on sex scenes. Either way, every GTA game since has still featured sexual content, only getting more graphic as visual fidelity jumped up....

The developer posted the news on Twitter, saying that it needed more time to finish the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series/S version of Control Ultimate Edition. The game was set to come out at the end of 2020, but will now be coming out in early 2021. “We want the final quality of the game to be awesome, and so we need a bit more time to work on it,” Remedy wrote....

Sasan Sepehr, a senior technical producer at Control developer Remedy, has Tweeted his thoughts about the Xbox Series S. “As a consumer, I love this!” Sepehr said in a Tweet reacting to the Xbox Series S price news. “As a Technical Producer, I see trouble.” In a followup Tweet, Sepehr explained that he’s referring to the pain of game optimisation, which could create problems for Series S. According to the studio, Alan Wake 2 will soon have all content in place and is “playable from start to finish.” Once all content is added, the team will move on to the polishing phase. In the report, Remedy noted that Alan Wake Remastered, released in 2021 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox and in 2022 for Switch, has “not yet generated royalties.” However, the studio expects sales to increase as the release of Alan Wake 2 “becomes imminent,” as fans and new players will want to experience the original story on new generation consoles....

It was assumed, since launch, that the game would be an Xbox exclusive; and why not? Bethesda and Microsoft are now one, big, happy family (citation needed) and Xbox noted that “future Bethesda games to be exclusive to platforms with Game Pass”. But, speaking on the Xbox Two podcast, Windows Central’s Jez Corden has noted that the game will not be exclusive to Xbox; when asked by co-host Rand al Thor whether the game is “exclusive [to Xbox]”, Corden simply replies “it isn’t....

Soon, The Division 2 players will be able to dress up in Resident Evil-inspired outfits. For a limited time, The Division 2 will be hosting a cross-over event where you’ll be able to collect iconic Resident Evil outfits, weapon skins, and other cosmetics from the original Resident Evil trilogy. Capcom announced the tie-in today during its Resident Evil Village stream. The event kicks off February 2, and works similarly to other Collection Events in The Division 2....

Resident Evil Revelation, particularly the sequel, was always considered among the series’ best off-shoots. According to new information from insiders, fans of Revelations will be getting a new game in the near future. Dusk Golem, a Capcom insider with a good track record when it comes to Resident Evil in particular, has revealed on Twitter that the publisher has been working on a third Resident Evil Revelations for nearly four years....

According to a North American PR representative for Konami, rumors surrounding a Silent Hill reboot and a Silent Hills revival are just that: rumors. “We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true," the spokesperson told Rely on Horror. “I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear. “It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported....

In a blog post, the studio specifically discussed five issues, adding that some have already been fixed in the launch build, while others are being worked on (though without specifying).
