Electronic Arts’ bid to acquire Codemasters is one step closer to reality, reports VGC. According to the report, Codemasters’ CEO Frank Sagnier, CFO Rashid Varachia, and executive director Ian Bell have agreed to close the deal with EA. It will be put to vote on February 3, and still needs approval by shareholders, which have been recommended to vote in favour. Once shareholders agree, a hearing will be held on February 16 to cement the deal....
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion is a remaster. It’s perhaps not quite ‘more than a remaster’, as Square Enix has suggested, but it’s a bloody impressive run at tidying up and improving a game that was on a handheld console that, ultimately, was less powerful than the PS2. In stills, Crisis Core definitely does look like more than a remaster, though. What you have here is low-key PS4 quality character models that wouldn’t look out of place in FF7 Remake proper dropped into the PSP game....

Bungie has officially revealed the title for Destiny 2’s next season, Season 13. Dubbed Season of the Chosen, it begins on Tuesday, February 9 with the weekly reset across all platforms, and runs until May 11. The story of Season of the Chosen focuses on the Cabal. Empress Caiatl, Calus’ daughter and leader of the Cabal, is seeking an alliance with humanity. Things don’t go well, however, and the offering of peace turns into a war with the Last City....

Codemasters has announced Dirt 5 will be released a week later than its original October 9 date. The driving game will now be released on October 16 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Those who purchase the Amplified Edition will still have early access to the game, but it will now occur on October 13. In the game, you can expect 12 car classes, a Career Mode spanning five chapters, and over 130 events....
NPD analyst Mat Piscatella, who specialises in reporting on the business of the industry, has revealed that PC spending declined in 2019 due to a number of factors. One of them being the disruption the PC market saw with the arrival of Epic Games Store, and the effect it had on the rest of the market. According to Piscatella, PC stores did not prioritise the store experience and player choice, which caused some to spend less money on games....

Electronic Arts has extended its FIFA licensing agreement with UEFA. The US publishing giant has apparently signed a multi-year deal with the European football organisation, giving it the exclusive rights to the Champions League, as well as other competitions like the Europa League and Super Cup. EA landed the UEFA license after Konami lost the exclusive rights to the Champions League back in 2018. EA has also revealed that FIFA is making its debut on Google’s Stadia streaming service on March 17 with FIFA 21....
