Broadband providers in the UK are trying to keep up with bandwidth demands as new consoles and big, blockbuster games are released. The Xbox Series X and Series console launches, new Destiny 2 content and the upcoming Call of Duty are seemingly behind this huge spike in internet usage in recent days. The BBC reports that internet providers BT, Virgin Media, TalkTalk, Vodafone, City Fibre and Zen Internet all had to cope with a spike in broadband usage on Tuesday, November 10....

Microsoft has revealed all the games dropping into Xbox Game Pass (PC and Xbox One) between now and the end of July. This bundle follows Fallout 76, Soulcalibur 6 and all the other games that made it in earlier this month. It all kicks off on July 16 with 2D crafting game Forager (PC and Xbox). Mount & Blade: Warband hits Xbox One on the same day. On July 23, Devolver’s Carrion, the reverse horror game where you play as the monster, releases on PC and Xbox One....

Death’s Door is the most recent Indie game I’ve been playing which captures that Indie dev creativity perfectly. Naka shared the news on his own Twitter account, where he also detailed the fact he filed a lawsuit against Square Enix, and that he’s able to share all of this as the lawsuit has now concluded (translations by Cheesemesiter3K). The renowned developer noted that he thinks “it’s wrong of Square Enix not to value games and game fans.” Continuing the thread, Naka wrote that according to the court documents, he was removed for two reasons....

Beyond just creating a couple of good big-screen adventures, the Sonic movies have done a convincing job of creating a new version of the Sonic canon; a universe it’s easy to become invested in the expansion of. With Sonic 3 officially coming, that means we can’t help but ask… what should be in it? According to the latest financial report, Sony managed to ship 4.5 million PS5 units worldwide by the end of 2020, meaning that a further 3.3 million units have since been sold in 2021. There may be an issue with scarcity, but that’s not stopping Sony from hitting some major milestones. This means that Sony has met a major target it set for itself and the lifetime sales of the PS5, exceeding the number of PS4 shipments it made in the same period after the console’s launch in 2013-2014....

Kotick addressed a message to all employees concerning the lawsuit brought by the state of California over allegations of harassment and bullying last week, and notes that the company’s response could have been far, far better. “Our initial responses to the issues we face together, and to your concerns, were, quite frankly, tone deaf,” he said in the letter. He also revealed that a law firm, WilmerHale, has been hired to immediately review the company’s policies in hopes “to promote a respectful and inclusive workplace,” and that Activision Blizzard “will continue to investigate each and every claim and will not hesitate to take decisive action....

While little information was shared today, it was announced this year’s entry is a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. The new game and a new Warzone experience are being designed together from the ground-up. This year’s single entry being a sequel to Modern Warfare shouldn’t come as a surprise considering it’s been rumored for a while, and last year, it was reported the game will feature a morality system similar to that seen in Red Dead Redemption 2....

Activision Blizzard has overnight revealed its earning results for Q1 of FY2021. The publisher achieved revenue of $2.28 billion, beating its $2.02 billion forecast. As part of the earnings reveal, Activision touched on its strategy for this fiscal year and beyond. The company announced that it’s expanding, with the aim of hiring 2,000 new developers over the next two years. Activision is doing this, in part, to triple the size of certain franchise teams (compared to 2019) by the end of next year....
