Before the trailer, director Bannon Rudis and producer Colleen Fannin talked about their experiences with the River City series and their excitement at getting to work on this new game. “I’ve been a River City fan since the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System,” Rudis said. Roller Champions will be released in early 2021, it was announced today during Ubisoft Forward. Originally slated for release in early 2020, we’ll just have a bit more of a wait. Announced last year, the game is Ubisoft’s second major foray into the action sports market after Steep. It is essentially a roller derby game taking place inside closed circuits. The game is a free to play, PvP game, where two teams of three players face off in global arenas....

Facepunch’s Rust has hit new records for users on both Steam and streaming platform Twitch. As spotted by PCGamesN, SteamCharts shows that the game hit 244,394 concurrent users on Steam. This record was actually hit at 21:00 GMT on Saturday, January 16. At the time of writing, Rust actually boasts the fourth-highest concurrent player figure on Steam, coming in behind Valve’s own Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, as well as battle royale hit Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds....

I didn’t know I wanted a 3D LittleBigPlanet, but now it’s here in the form of Sackboy: A Big Adventure, I’m very glad it exists. Stripped of all the franchise’s creation tools, this is a pure family-friendly romp through picturesque environments, accompanied by plenty of head-bopping tunes, and some cute-as-a-button costumes. Alongside Astro’s Playroom, Sackboy: A Big Adventure brings some whimsy to the PS5 launch. As ever in Sackboy games, there’s an evil (Vex, voiced brilliantly by Richard E Grant) trying to do bad things to the lovely people of Craftworld and you must stop this by navigating through five planets, each home to numerous levels....

The Epic Games Store is looking to kick off another year of big and small releases. Today, Epic Games revealed eight new games coming to the digital store throughout 2020. The biggest is, of course, Samurai Shodown. The game does not yet have a PC release date, but its confirmation for PC has been a long time coming. It launched on PS4 and Xbox One last year, but the closest to PC it’s ever gotten has been Google Stadia....

Let me tell you a story about my struggles with the Windows audio settings. There is no telling how Windows will react to having multiple audio sources going off at once, and over the years I’ve dealt with applications inexplicably muted, settings reverting or changing without reason, Windows updates ruining the best-laid plans… the list goes on and on. Called Shrouded Islands, the event runs from February 17 to March 3 and is the first in what’s to become a monthly thing that will carry the game’s ongoing narrative forward. In this adventure, Phantom pirates are running amok in the Sea of the Damned - the place you go to when you die aboard the Ferry of the Damned. And because of this, tensions are rising as various factions “ponder how they might make use of this power for their own ends....

The team touches upon the title, which is just “skate.” and the return of the franchise in general. Set before the events of the Dragonborn coming to Skyrim, The Adventure Game casts players as one of four surviving Blades, protectors of the Empire, as they work together to stop a plot that threatens all of Skyrim. Players can choose from six different in-game races and equip a wide variety of weapons and armor. The game comes with two complete campaigns that, played through once, offer over twelve hours of gameplay and can be easily replayed to up that estimate dramatically....

The Naughty Dog co-president and creative director will take his place as one of five directors for the first season, VGC picked up today. The first season is expected to tackle the events that happened in the first game – with maybe some content from The Last of Us, Part II making it’s way in, too – so it makes sense that Druckmann (who has been intimately involved with the series at Naughty Dog as a writer since it first appeared in 2013) will take up directorial duties on the show....

The initial rumour that Ubisoft was developing a game based on the Marvel character Blade was due to Instagram posts from July showing motion-capture actors in Ubisoft-branded suits. Not only that, but one of the images shows one of the actors holding a clapperboard that says the production name is Marvel. The flame of this rumour was then reignited when YouTuber and Ubisoft leaker JorRaptor pointed out how the clapperboard also lists Bassam Tariq as the director, who is directing Marvel’s 2023 Blade reboot....

It’s been a long time coming, considering the 1.5 update launched for PC and console players back in December 2020. As you can imagine, mobile players of the farming simulation game have been desperate to dive into Stardew Valley’s ultimate update for two years now, so it’s great to finally see the update ported over to mobile platforms. Game creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) has quite clearly been working tirelessly on the port among other projects, and has made it clear on Twitter that he’s not best pleased about how long it has taken to release....
