Volition said it is working to improve the gameplay experience with fixes to community-reported issues and more improvements based on player feedback. Because the team is prioritizing fixes, development on extra content has been put on hold for the time being. You can expect the first major update in late November, and it will contain over 200 bug fixes and stability upgrades. The update will focus particularly on challenges, overall stability, and co-op....

The latest game in the Samurai Shodown series (just called Samurai Shodown, confusingly enough) comes to Steam next month, one year after it arrived on Epic Games Store and two years after it launched on consoles. Developer SNK has timed the release well because the Steam launch of the game will come alongside the introduction of Amakusa: the third fighter in Samurai Shodown’s third season pass. Shiro Tokisada Amakusa is a returning character to the series, and is based on a legendary revolutionary in Japan that was executed after attempting to lead a crew of Catholics in a rebellion on the Shogunate in the Edo era....

The most significant title reduced is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. CoD games don’t often see a discount, and this 1980s Cold War era shooter is down to just £29.99 here. There’s also the remastered version of Diablo II released last year, Diablo II: Resurrected, down to £26.25. This contains an enhanced version of Blizzard’s classic action RPG as well as the Lord of Destruction expansion pack. There’s also the completely remade versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 double pack down to £19....

Scarlet Nexus is a sci-fi RPG from Bandai Namco Studios, and it’s in the work for Xbox Series X and Xbox One. After its initial announcement for Xbox One and Xbox Series X, Bandai Namco confirmed it’s also coming to PS4, PS5, and Steam for PC. Development is being led by former members of the team that brought you Tales of Vesperia. The game takes place in a far distant future where a psionic hormone found in the brain has granted folks extra-sensory powers ushering in a new era for humans....

Free to all players as part of the Season Three update arriving later this month, A Pirate’s Life takes place over five Tall Tales charting a new threat in the game. “We’ve worked closely with the Walt Disney Games team throughout this whole process, crafting an original story which brings out the best elements of both Sea of Thieves and their beloved Pirates of the Caribbean franchise,” said executive producer Joe Neate....

It will also be available that day on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass for PC. Players will be able to experience Second Extinction at 4K/60 FPS on Xbox Series X, as well as on mobile devices via xCloud. In Second Extinction, a team of up to three players is pitted against swarms of dinosaurs across Earth’s post-apocalyptic wastelands. You will have a range of weapons at your disposal and can fight alone or with others against the mutated creatures....

Second Extinction is coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and if you’re looking forward to it, you’ll want to check out some gameplay. The video below shows 11 minutes of the three-player co-op FPS with commentary from lead producer Brynley Gibson. In Second Extinction, you work as a team to take down large groups of mutated dinosaurs. Expect plenty of bullets, bombs, teeth, claws, and gore, according to developer Systemic Reaction, a creative division of Avalanche Studios Group....

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is part-remake, part new game from Merge Games and developer Jankenteam. As the name suggests, the project is based on the very first Alex Kidd game, which released all the way back in 1986 for the Sega Master System. Miracle World DX is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch in the first quarter of 2021. The game features modern visuals, animations and sounds, and brings back all of the original’s levels....

The game, which follows you and up to five others sailing across the Indian Ocean, was first revealed in 2017. Since then, it’s had a TV series’ despite not being out yet, and has been delayed multiple times. More recently, however, Ubisoft confirmed what games the company will be releasing before the end of the fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2023. Amongst the three titles name, which includes upcoming Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Skull and Bones was named....

Modder PureDark is working on the plugin alongside other modders. Called Skyrim-Upscaler, it is available through GitHub, and a public release will occur once the team works out VR compatibility (thanks, RPS). The plugin looks to increase frame rates with other Skyrim mods installed, but at present, it won’t work with the popular ENB (Enhanced Natural Beauty) mod. That said, compatibility between ENB and DLSS is in the works. This is according to YouTuber Mern, who spoke with the plugin’s modder....

Treyarch has released new patch notes for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s multiplayer modes, outlining the changes between the launch version and the most recent beta. There is a lot to go over too. Headlining the changes is a big change to sliding. The move has been very powerful across both the alpha and beta, and despite various nerfs during, it remained too good to ignore. Sliding now has reduced range, speed and a longer stow speed....

News of the acquisition was announced today on the PS Blog by PlayStation Studios head Herman Hulst. “We’re thrilled to have officially joined PlayStation Studios,” said Bluepoint president Marco Thrush in a statement. “Austin, Texas has been the home base for Bluepoint from when we first founded the studio back in 2006 and we’re now a team of close to 70 super-talented creatives and growing. While the studio has certainly grown over the past 15 years, our cultural beliefs have remained the same- to always push the envelope and create the highest-quality games possible all while having fun doing it....

The results find a marginal year-over-year (yoy) increase in PlayStation 5 sales, declines in software unit sales, and a small uptick in digital units sold. For the quarter, Sony reported a 4% yoy increase for PS5. The console shipped 2.4 million units, up from 2.3 million reported during the same quarter in 2021. In all, the console has shipped 21.7 million units worldwide. In software, full game sales were down 26% to 47....

The company made the announcement it was skipping Pax East 2020 on the US PS Blog. As teased last week, Ghost Recon Breakpoint Episode 2: Deep State is now available and it features Sam Fisher of Splinter Cell fame. The episode features a new eight-mission adventure, Operation Checkmate, and two new Ghost classes. In the Operation Checkmate campaign, you will team up with Sam Fisher to track down the “sinister” Strategist. The Strategist is apparently trying to control drones with his mind, and he has also taken your squadmate, Midas, hostage....

In an unusual move, Splitgate developer 1047 Games has taken the game’s incredibly popular beta offline after it reached over 65,000 concurrent players. Splitgate is a multiplayer shooter with a unique mix of Halo’s gunplay and feel, and Portal’s, well, portals. It has been available on Steam since 2019, just recently entered open beta on PC as well as consoles (with cross-play), which caused a massive spike in player interest....

Square Enix recently posted a job opening for a Brand Manager in its London office. This is not particularly interesting in of itself, but certain details from the job summary point towards slightly more intriguing pastures. “A new role has arisen, for a commercially minded digital and brand marketer to join the Brand team for a new GaaS [Games as a Service] IP, at Square Enix’s London office.” Not an especially subtle hint....

The PlayStation Plus games for June are Call of Duty: WW2 and Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Sony announced Call of Duty: WW2 last week, so you knew it was coming already. Yesterday it was revealed through a PlayStation Gaming video that Star Wars: Battlefront 2 would be the other free title for June. So while none of this is a surprise, confirmation is always nice. Both games will be made available on June 1 which means you still have a bit of time to download and play May titles Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19....

As promised, EA debuted Star Wars: Squadrons gameplay today during its EA Play Live 2020 showcase. The footage confirms a few of the suspicions many had about just how sim-like or sim-leaning the game’s flight model is going to be. We were given a look at ships such as support, bombers, and others. We were also given a look at dogfights in multiplayer, tractor beams, turrets, mines, and other ways to beat your opponent....

According to Lampert, the main theme song in any of Bethesda’s games frames the title. The music team always tried to “weave it through in some way,” and as you level up in Starfield and discover new locations, the music will hint at the main melody....
