This morning, Nintendo published its earnings [PDF] for the nine months ended December 31. This period has been very profitable for the company, supported by the success of exclusive games, and the launch of the Switch Lite. The Switch family sold 17.74 million units during the period, a 22.5% jump compared to the same period the year before. Lifetime sales are now up to 52.48 million, putting Switch ahead of the SNES....

Rumours have been swirling for months now that Call of Duty: Warzone is set to introduce its own version of custom/private lobbies. Not only did they get to explore the options players have control over when creating a private Warzone lobby, they also reportedly got a match running....

Sony just released a new firmware update for PlayStation 4 worldwide. The new firmware, version 7.55, sadly doesn’t introduce any new features or make any user-facing changes. As always, the sole available patch note reads, “This system software update improves system performance.” Given that 7.55 is also an incremental firmware update, it comes in at the usual 471MB download size. The new firmware will automatically be downloaded and installed by your PS4 or PS4 Pro, so long as it was left Rest Mode....

The first PUBG Season 9 patch has arrived on the PS4 and Xbox One test servers. The change log is nearly identical to that of the PC side of things, including, of course, the new map Paramo. But one big addition exclusive to consoles is support for 60fps. The Framerate Priority option, available on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, now supports up to 60fps gameplay. This is achieved by dropping the resolution to 1080p, which isn’t surprising....

In a world where Fortnite dominates the battle royale world by featuring crossovers with the biggest western franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, PUBG Mobile has taken a different approach with a collaboration with the mecha anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. The collab features a new game mode called Core Circle, and will let players unlock a variety of outfits and items. “The new ‘Core Circle’ game mode comes to Livik and Erangel,” reads a press release....

Ubisoft has brought back the fan-favorite Rainbow is Magic event to Rainbow Six Siege with new items to add to your collection. You can participate from today through April 5. As you did two years ago, you will be tasked with saving a teddy via a “colorful mission of pure chaos” aboard the toy version of Airplane. In it, Blackbeard, Montagne, Smoke, and Tachanka will don fun and crazy uniforms to fight over the VIP Teddy Bear....

Treyarch has dropped a new patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Alongside all the fixes, the patch also introduces a new multiplayer playlist, which goes live tomorrow on all platforms. It’s called Rapid Fire Moshpit, and Treyarch said it’s a first for Black Ops. Rapid Fire is made up of TDM, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint, played on the game’s smallest 6v6 maps: Apocalypse, Nuketown ’84, Crossroads Strike, Raid, Express, and Garrison....

That wouldn’t be so bad as a concept if Blizzard’s latest release hadn’t suffered such a miserable launch. Plagued by SMS login issues, long queue times, heroes that had to be removed from the roster, and players complaining heavily about the predatory monetisation of the game, Overwatch 2 has left a bad taste in everyone’s mouths. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Over on the Overwath 2 reddit, one user has taken life’s lemons and made them into Overwatch-flavoured lemonade....

One of the new games coming to Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft Flight Simulator for PC, which was released today. The other title is Spiritfarer, available for both PC and Xbox One. It is a management game about dying where you play as Stella the spiritfarer. You will build a boat to search for spirits seeking passage to the afterlife. In your handcrafted ferry, you will befriend these spirits, but the game also features farming, mining, harvesting, cooking, and crafting and constructed platforming levels....

However, before you go and take up the offer of a parlay, there are a few new optional side paths now accessible to you. These will set you up with a good supply of Lei and food to spend upgrades for the endgame. Or you can follow the signs northeast to the stronghold straightaway. Arguably Riot’s biggest title League of Legends, alongside a number of other games, will be joining the Xbox Game Pass Winter 2022. Importantly, as part of Game Pass, all legends will be unlocked from the get go. On top of this, the mobile version of the game, League of Legends Wild Rift will also be joining the subscription service, also with all champions unlocked. But the buck doesn’t stop there....

Update Ragnarok has secured assets and the source code for Rune 2, after obtaining a hard drive with the needed files. The assets were previously in the hands of the game’s Developer, Human Head, which was acquired by Bethesda in November. Ragnarok filed suit against Bethesda and Human Head in December and was seeking $100 million in compensation plus the assets in order to continue supporting the game with DLC....
