After getting its first major release in November, and a PS5 compatibility update shortly after, another major expansion has now been scheduled. The new update will introduce Dragonspine: a frozen mountain range located south of Mondstadt. The new location is pretty chilly (as you’d expect from a mountainous region) and as such players can expect to deal with a new mechanic in the form of a ‘Sheer Cold’ bar....

The PC port of God of War, which came out on Friday, January 14, is now officially Sony’s biggest Steam launch ever. The game attracted 73,529 concurrent players at its peak, enough to land it in the top ten list at one point. This is significantly higher than Horizon Zero Dawn’s 56,557 peak concurrent, and well beyond Days Gone’s meagre (by comparison) 27,450 peak. Not content with shoving a real-life Chief under our noses, the folks at Xbox have now released a launch trailer that focuses on the game’s open world(ish) campaign. It servers to introduce us to some of the threats Chief will be taking on in this new story, including a pretty angry Brute boss that wants your head. Scary. The winter update’s most notable addition had to be Forge, Halo Infinite’s map creator, but now, the December update provides even more free content to support it. This includes a shiny new Custom Game Browser, which has appeared much earlier than anticipated. “It’s a key support structure for what players create in Forge, and a pillar for the community,” reads the Halo Waypoint blog detailing the update. It’s a pretty big deal that the feature has arrived months ahead of time, so 343 Industries have warned of teething issues with the browser....

It seems The Banished are very mad about humanity this time around and they’re looking for control of the rings. The faction previously appeared in Halo Wars 2 and hasn’t been seen in the main Halo series so far. The Banished are a mercenary faction that splintered off from the main Covenant force after a short rebellion. They’re more ruthless and they sound pretty angry.
