Krafton Inc. announced today it had signed Adi Shankar for the animated PUBG project. Alongside Castlevania, Shankar is also known for The Grey starring Liam Neeson, Killing Them Softly with Brad Pitt, and more Hollywood films. “As a player, I’ve been crushing the competition in the Battlegrounds since PUBG was released in 2017," said Shankar. “I’m grateful to Krafton for the trust and confidence they’ve placed in me to execute my vision as a filmmaker and I’m excited to embark on this journey together....

We can probably all agree that Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t exactly get off to a strong start, plagued with a number of issues, meaning expansions and next-gen versions of the game have received numerous delays. Now that the next-gen update is here, the question of where the expansions are is on everyone’s minds. Quest designer Sasko was able to shed some light on that in a recent Twitch stream (via Reddit and TheGamer)....

Following its decision to delay Cyberpunk 2077 to December, developer CD Projekt Red hosted an emergency call with investors to discuss the delay, and update them on the company’s plans. As part of that call, CD Projekt Red leadership said that PC and next-gen console versions of Cyberpunk 2077 are ready, but that the delay is caused by the current-gen console versions. It was also there that company CEO Adam Kicinski addressed reports of the studio going into mandatory crunch, which the company said will see employees “well compensated....

Official mod tools for Cyberpunk 2077 are now out in the wild. Developer CD Projekt Red has published official tools and resources for modifying the recently-released sci-fi RPG. This includes Metadata information, as well as Archive and Tweak dumps. The studio says that these will receive continuous support and will be updated alongside future game patches. A look at the fast-paced arcade racing game Hot Wheels Unleashed is shown off in the video below. The game features all sorts of drifting, boosting, and jumping and in the video, you get a look at the Garage environment, a first look at the challenges, and get a glimpse at the numerous surprises like the special track pieces. Popular indie game Cuphead is coming to the small screen and the first trailer for the animated show adaptation of everyone’s favorite hard-as-nails cartoon looks absolutely amazing. The series, which is being developed by King Features Syndicate, will expand on the characters and world of Cuphead and features a host of familiar faces that anyone familiar with the game will recognize. The series was announced way back in 2019, so it’s nice to see it surface now....

This new Streets of Rage 4 gameplay trailer shows off a nice homage to the original series, with unlockable pixel art characters with movesets and abilities unique to the character’s respective game entires. Alongside the new trailer, a few extra details have been announced, such as the ability for fighters to hail police officers cops for special moves. And characters in the game from Streets of Rage 3 will be able to sprint and roll through environments....

Chizuru – a veteran character that’s been in-and-out of the series since she debuted as the sub-boss in The King of Fighters ’96 – has officially been announced for the SNK-developed game. Fans of the series will note that Chizuru was missing in the last entry in the series, The King of Fighters 14, and as such this will be the first time we get to see her rendered with a proper 3D model....

Update: Images of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time from what appears to be a leaked video have surfaced on the internet along with an October 9 release date. Cyberpunk 2077 hotfix 1.22 touches upon the most frequently reported issues since the last patch and it introduces further improvements to stability and performance. Quests and open-world fixes include the removal of glitches in Johnny’s appearance occurring after buying the Nomad car from Lana. An issue where you couldn’t use the elevator in Gig: Until Death Do Us Part was addressed. You should no longer get trapped in the garage during the Epistrophy quest if you didn’t follow the drone....

Update: Digital Foundry have posted a video analysis of their Cyberpunk 2077 frame rate tests on PS4 and PS4 Pro. The footage is based on the first three hours of the game on patch 1.02, and you can see that the base PS4 has had huge compromises both in terms of resolution and frame rate performance. At one point, Digital Foundry’s John Linneman calls it, “basically what you would expect a Switch port of another modern game to look like”, as they cut to some footage of The Witcher 3 running on Switch....
