Split into three different periods, a total of ten packs (nine thematic and one legendary) will be up for grabs alongside Octane, Wattson, and Valkyrie themselves. The reward periods are split up as follows: February 8 - February 15: Octane and three thematic packs February 15 - February 22: Wattson and three thematic packs February 22 - March 1: Valkyrie, three thematic packs, and one legendary pack. The new season will also be bringing a considerable update to the map Olympus, as well as a new Control game mode where teams of nine must battle over set points on the map....

A new documentary from Noclip called The Untold History of Arkane has been released, and along with discussing its canceled Half-Life game, Arkane also touches upon another canceled, game: The Crossing. The first eight hours of the canceled game, were single-player action FPS, in a world which was designed and directed by Half-Life 2 and Dishonored’s Viktor Antonov. One unique feature of the game was called “cross player,” which fused single-player with multiplayer....

We’re used to seeing fan anger in video games - it doesn’t take much to set certain groups of gamers off, as we all know - but it’s rare to see such universal, coordinated frustration and disappointment in a developer that actually has solid logic behind it. So first of all, congratulations to Niantic on that - on taking a decision so universally hated that it united practically the entire fanbase against it, from YouTubers to website owners, media owners to vocal players on social media - pretty much everybody is either mad or disappointed....

There’s a new Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey update, version 1.5.3, that’s live now on PS4 and Xbox One. The update, due tomorrow on PC, brings a few small fixes to the game. The bigger news, though, is that players will soon get Ezio’s Roman Set (Exotic) to use in-game. It’s not clear exactly what we’ll need to do in get it, but both Ezio’s Roman Set and Milanese Sword showed up on Uplay as a reward for “participating in selected community activities....

Described by the developer as a “semi-open world full of ancient mysteries and threats,” the game looks promising. In a behind-closed-doors presentation with Deck13’s game design director, Jérémy Hartvick, we also learned that players expecting something akin to 2017’s The Surge or 2019’s The Surge 2 should adjust their expectations: this game does not promise the same sort of experience. Instead, says Hartvick, Atlas Fallen will “be more inspired by God of War or Horizon [Forbidden West]....

The addition of Black Panther and the War for Wakanda expansion pack is what Marvel’s Avengers needs. After a rocky launch and an initially pacy stream of updates, things have slowed. The developers have put out tiny XP and balance tweaks, but there’s been nothing new for fans to sink their teeth into. Thankfully, this expansion appears to have those things in abundance. The War for Wakanda expansion brings with it a bunch of new content, all important to improving the wider Avengers experience....

Speaking in a notice on the official website, the studio more or less stated the three expansions – Tunnels of Terror, Children of the Worm, and River of Blood – are the only DLC to expect for the game. The notice reads that since Turtle Rock is a “pretty small” studio, it doesn’t have “quite enough folks to continue working on Back 4 Blood content” while it creates another game....

The new patch upgrades all of the games to 64-bit, and fixes hundreds of bugs, and adds brand new portraits, voice sets to customize your heroes and more. Upgrading to 64-bit means that 32-bit will no longer be supported. Beamdog said the patch won’t fix every issue in the games, but future updates are planned. Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian has revealed Twitch and YouTube integration for the game’s PC and Stadia versions. Larian sees it as a way for streamers to become dungeon masters, letting players dictate gameplay choices as they monitor the general flow. Viewers will be able to vote on the the dialogue options in the game’s many conversations, and the streamer will see percentages for each of them. They can then choose to play along with chat, or continue picking the choices that make sense for them....

Battlefield 2042 is made up of three distinct experiences: the bread-and-butter All-Out Warfare with Conquest, and Breakthrough, the community-driven Portal mode with remasters from Bad Company 2, Battlefield 1942, and Battlefield 3, and the Tarkov-lite Hazard Zone....

Sometimes the quietest noises are the most interesting. Battlefield 2042’s Plus System fits that description perfectly. The Plus Menu sits on the right hand side of the screen for every player, and it’s one almost everyone will rely on when they play. The Plus System is essentially Crysis’ dynamic, on-the-go weapon modification mechanic, which has always been one of that series’ most recognisable aspects. As in Crytek’s shooters, Battlefield 2042 allows players to change any given weapon’s configuration in the field....

While you can throw the C5, stick it to vehicles - and even Casper’s drone for a special delivery - the damage values look to be different depending on where the C5 is placed. Reddit user Div2691 picked up on this while trying to destroy a tank using C5 explosives. According to their findings, and as you can see in the video below, the C5 does more damage to the tank when it explodes behind it (placed on the ground)....

Battletoads was announced at E3 2018, and shown properly at the Xbox E3 Press Conference in 2019. Now, we finally have a release date. The game features co-op with up to three players. Here, players will take control of the Battletoads and team up to “storm through wild and unpredictable stages.” Players can drop-in or drop-out at any time. Developed by Dlala Studios, perhaps best known for the brawler ‘Overruled’, the game is Zitz, Rash and Pimple’s first new adventure in decades....

The amount of choice thrown at you during character creation can be confusing, but we’re here to lend a helping paw as you build your character in Biomutant. One thing to remember is that choosing any of the different breeds or classes doesn’t necessarily lock you out of any particular specialisation - it just gives you a nudge in the right direction. If you’re playing on normal, you’ll easily be able to pivot your build to something more suitable, regardless of the starting class and breed you choose....

It’s been quite a ride. Black Mesa has been in development for an incredible 14 years - the work of a team of volunteers who, according to the collective’s Adam Engels only began making money on the project a few years ago. Engels made the announcement today in a blog post on Steam, confirming Black Mesa 1.0 will finally launch on March 5 following five years in early access. “Through luck, hard work, and maybe a bit of ignorance we didn’t shy away from our goal of bringing this game to completion,” he writes of the project....
