The Elder Scrolls are absolute power fantasies, built entirely around freedom and letting the player act out their LARP-ing dreams without going outside. First up, let’s look to the short-term: the game is getting a patch with bug fixes, and unnamed quality of life improvements this month. In a big new update in December, the developer has promised a suite of fixes for the game, alongside some new content to keep you shooting away at the amassing zombie army....

DICE has outright confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will have its version of the popular battle pass system. At a pre-reveal event attended by VG247, the developer said that the game’s battle pass will feature the traditional free and paid tracks. As players have come to expect from this proven model, Battlefield 2042’s implementation will allow non-owners of the pass to access all meaningful gameplay content. The model also insures future maps and modes will remain free for all players....
As it does every quarter, EA put out a succinct look at its financials in the form of colourful slides [PDF]. The Q4 slides list what the company considers “active” games during the quarter on PC and consoles. This basically covers the games that continue to make money for EA over that period. Battlefield 2042’s All-Out Warfare experiences include a small handful of weapons. Though that is itself a problem, there’s a more pressing issue about their attachments. In short, attachments don’t always have the effects descriptions suggest they do. The problem is actually threefold. First, descriptions can be misleading, and indicate the opposite of what the attachment is supposed to do. Reddit user LoKi_Cosmoz picked up on the fact that the VCAR marksman rifle’s barrels and their descriptions are mismatched....
For starters, Battlefield 2042 will be relying on the popular Easy-Anti Cheat (EAC) service to detect and ban cheaters. EAC is being used by Apex Legends and many other online games. Easy-Anti Cheat will be active during the upcoming beta, too. DICE confirmed that it has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to cheating, meaning cheaters will be permanently banned immediately without warning or suspension. Because Battlefield 2042 supports cross-play, getting banned from one platform means you won’t be able to play the game on any of them....
That’s according to the company’s Todd Howard, who said in an interview at Develop:Brighton Digital with GamesIndustry’s James Batchelor that the Creation Engine that powers the game has been massively overhauled for this upcoming project. In fact, the developer has said that Starfield represents a bigger leap when it comes to things like rendering, animation and AI than the jump from Morrowind to Oblivion. Bethesda is using procedural generation for both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, meaning the games’ maps will likely be larger than the company’s previous output....

Gearbox has released Bounty of Blood, the third campaign DLC for Borderlands 3. As previously announced, the new content takes place on the desert planet of Gehenna. It features a new cast of characters and there is a narrator who commentates on your adventures. Your goal is to claim a bounty on The Devil Riders, which is a gang of bandits terrorizing the town. The new content will also come with gameplay additions like the customizable JetBeast hoverbike, four brand new interactive objects, and plenty of new loot....

After weeks of news about cancelled and delayed events, game developers have now escalated to the next step in preventing an outbreak: working from home. Destiny developer Bungie announced that it’s moving all staff to work from home indefinitely. The developer has been building infrastructure that allows all team members to work remotely without impacting the workflow. “Today, we have activated this fully remote work infrastructure and policy for all Bungie employees across the globe, with the goals of prioritizing the safety of our employees and continuing to develop and deliver on a game we love for our community,” the developer wrote....
