According to an official message from Xbox boss Phil Spencer, Microsoft is seeing “unprecedented demand for gaming” from Xbox customers. To that end, the company is keeping an eye on its services and increasing worldwide demand. “I have previously stated that I believe gaming has a unique power to bring people together, to entertain, to inspire and connect us, and I believe that’s even more true under these unique circumstances,” said Spencer....

Microsoft has shared a little bit about its vision for the future when it comes to Project xCloud. Streaming games to phones and TVs is all well and good, but the company is looking forward to a future where the tech can transform the way we buy and play games. “There’s an ease of browsing and buying capability on xCloud that I find incredibly valuable today,” head of Xbox Phil Spencer told The Verge....

Activision announced that Modern Warfare 2 has now made over $1 billion in total revenue. The figure was achieved in the game’s first ten days on sale, and it strictly covers sales to customers, making it the fastest game to reach $1 billion sell-through in Call of Duty history. Previous record holder was Black Ops 2, which amassed the same amount in 15 days. The stats, of course, are a little skewed here, considering Modern Warfare 2 is a $70 game, with another $100 edition on most platforms....

We’re still several weeks away from the launch of the game, of course, so while a dropping a launch trailer now might seem strange, it’s a thing more and more publishers have been doing in recent years, mainly to ramp up pre-orders. Love the tactic or hate it, though, this new Modern Warfare 2 trailer is good. The focus is squarely on the single-player campaign here. We get treated to plenty of new footage, showing both gameplay and cutscenes from various missions....

Its narrative, on the other hand, ignores much of the events of the 2019 reboot, and focuses instead on a new character, while reimagining an intriguing dynamic between Ghost, and Soap. Although a few of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign missions do call back to the original game - as well as other classic moments from the series’ long history - those of us who played the original Modern Warfare 2 were expecting the return of one particular moment....

But there’s another title Call of Duty also tends to claim at release, and that is the year’s best-selling game. Things are a little different this year, however. For the first time in a long, long time Call of Duty has competition capable of trading blows with it over this coveted title. That being Elden Ring, which remains 2022’s best-selling game, even after the release of Modern Warfare 2. That’s according to the NPD Group’s report for October, which has Modern Warfare 2 at the number two spot for the year-to-date sales....

The new update is a pretty big one, adding new monsters and new gear sets, too. Amongst the new arrivals are Fatalis, a legendary dragon that was introduced back in the first Monster Hunter game on PS2, and arch-tempered Velkhana. Fatalis comes with two armor sets, and Velkhana comes with one set you can harvest from its hunted body. Good luck if you’re going into these encounters, though; these two are some high-level monsters....

After rumours emerged about the ports, Capcom went ahead and confirmed it themselves after sharing a video to the Monster Hunter Twitter account. The tweet reads, “The gates to Kamura are opening up for even more Hunters!” with details as to what platforms the game is arriving on, as well as the release date. In addition, the same Monster Hunter tweet confirmed that the Sunbreak DLC is set to follow suit, with that arriving on consoles during spring 2023....

What is Allfire Stone in Monster Hunter Rise? Allfire Stone is an ore you can harvest from early-game areas, but only once you reach Master Rank. Harvesting mining outcrops at any rank lower than that will get you nothing – or no Allfire Stone at least – but seeing as you don’t need Allfire Stone until Master Rank, you aren’t really missing out. As a rarer material, Allfire Stones have a higher chance of dropping from white mining outcrops, in theory at least....

The game, which is coming to Nintendo Switch and PC, will get a suite of free post-launch DLC once it hits the shelves on July 9. Just one week after the game launches, on July 15, the new Palamute monstie will be added to the game. Ideal if you’re missing your canine pal from Monster Hunter Rise. The milestone follows the kickoff of MultiVersus Season 1, which began August 15 with a new Battle Pass. The season will also bring a new variety of characters like Morty Smith (Rick and Morty), who will join today. Later in the season, Black Adam (DC), Stripe (Gremlins), and Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty) will join the roster. You can expect more heroes and personalities in the coming months. New modes will also be coming to the game as part of Season 1, including Classic Arcade and Ranked modes....

While great stuff like Succession and Game of Thrones got ample time in the spotlight, fans of the hugely popular Naughty Dog action adventure game will be glued to a few seconds of precious new footage showing off the upcoming re-imagining of the Last of Us story. In the short clip of HBO’s Last of Us, we see Joel and Ellie played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey respectively travelling across a ravaged USA, seemingly following a similar journey as they did in the original game - crossing through the abandoned world together, and hashing out their issues as they go....

Sony wants all new titles submitted for certification after July 13 for PS4 to be compatible with PS5. The news comes via a report on Eurogamer, which states developer documentation released on PlayStation’s internal Partner website indicated developers must check an option for compatibility with PS5. This option was added at the end of April with a newer version of the PS4 devkit was made available. Developers will be contacted with details on PS5 compatibility, in the order of the projects’ release....

After the success of Ghost of Tsushima, it’s not hard to imagine the studio’s next game would be a sequel to the Japan-set epic. This appears to be Sucker Punch’s plan, at least judging by some new job openings. The job ads for narrative writer and associate outsource artist both specifically list familiarity with traditional Japanese culture and history amongst the list of interests that would be nice to have in a candidate....
